Prince Coffee House 太子咖啡座 is an old-school Hainanese café has become quite iconic over the decades. Prince Coffee House has announced that it will be closing soon, making this visit feel even more nostalgic Located in the heart of Singapore, Prince Coffee House offers a nostalgic old-school café experience with comforting local dishes at wallet-friendly prices. We ordered the Hainanese pork chop and beef hor fun. The pork chop was crispy outside yet tender inside, covered with a tangy tomato-based sauce that paired well with the fries and peas. The beef hor fun had a lovely wok hei aroma, with silky flat noodles coated in rich gravy and tender beef slices. Portions were satisfying and the food arrived quickly despite the busy crowd. The retro kopitiam atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a great spot for casual comfort food and supper.
View on GoogleAnother old-school Hainanese institution that will soon be closing its doors. Walking in feels like stepping back in time, with a menu full of nostalgic Hainanese classics. My favorite is their beef hor fun. Loaded with smoky wok hei, every bite was packed with flavour. It's always sad to see heritage eateries like this disappear. They are living pieces of Singapore's culinary history. With every closure, we lose another chapter of our food heritage that has witnessed generations of Singaporeans grow up. If you've never been here, now's the time to pay them a visit before they become just another memory.
View on GoogleCLOSING MID JULY - VISIT WHILE YOU CAN! I highly recommend the pork chop rice and the tenderloin which was tender and cooked just right! Honestly, I don’t think the food was exceptionally mindblowing and rather hit-and-miss (eg I think their Hor fun is okay only, and I’m not really inclined to try anything else on their menu) but the food and place just came with a nostalgic charm that feels like such a rare find these days. The uncles/aunties ie coffee house owners were also very warm and prompt in their service. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t done so before they close for good.
View on GooglePrince Coffee House is a hidden gem in Singapore that has been serving comforting, no-frills Western and local favourites for years. Their grilled tenderloin beef is especially impressive—juicy, tender, and cooked just right. The beef hor fun is full of wok hei and flavour, while the pork chop is another standout, perfectly seasoned and satisfying. It’s one of those nostalgic spots that reminds you of old-school coffee shop charm, where quality and consistency matter more than trends. With the owner planning to retire in 2026, it’s definitely worth visiting soon to experience this classic before it closes.
View on GoogleA truly nostalgic old-school gem serving authentic Hainanese Western fare. The food had that classic taste you don’t find easily nowadays — every dish we ordered was perfectly cooked and genuinely delicious. Even the simple iced lemon tea was surprisingly good. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality, heritage, and overall experience made it worthwhile. We queued about 15–20 minutes, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Unfortunately, the oxtail stew, grilled tenderloin steak, and yam cake were sold out when we visited, which just gives us another reason to return. A place that’s rich in heritage and flavour — definitely worth trying before it’s gone.
