I came with a small group at lunch peak on a weekday after learning about this restaurant from social media and was intrigued by Nasi Kandar, which is rare in Singapore. If you haven't heard of Nasi Kandar before, it's similar to Nasi Padang, but the flavours here tend to be sweeter due to the influence of Indian flavours. And they are currently running an eat-all-you-can promotion for $13.90 nett, which even includes a free drink! In this shrinkflation economy, this is a super good deal. Level 1 seats were full during our visit, but there were plenty of seats available on Level 2 – just watch out for the steep steps! The food was so delicious I went for two rounds. The fried ikan batang was fresh and flavourful. The fried thin-sliced bittergourd and cabbage are also must-orders. The only negative thing I have to say is the diluted coffee, but hey, it's free, and we're not here for drinks, so I can't complain. Kudos to the duo team who managed the crowd so efficiently and provided warm service. Definitely recommending this place to my friends!
View on GoogleIn an area full of westernised cafes or expensive food outlets, Mamak’s was a breath of freah air Offering affordable local cuisine with warmth and charm, the food is cooked with family recipes over 50 years old. We were served by Koushik who was patient in explaining the buffet options and making sure we had all we needed for a comfortable meal. We ate the buffet for $13.90 all you can eat with one drink, but at other times you may order ala carte. I highly recommend Mamaks.
View on GoogleNasi Kandar is known for its bold flavours and mouthwatering combinations. What makes it truly special is the magic lies in the “kuah campur” or mixed gravies—each curry has its own personality, and when they’re poured over the rice together, it creates a flavour explosion that’s pure bliss. Think fried chicken, beef rendang, squid sambal, or hard-boiled eggs, add on the veggies, and most importantly, the full mix of curries on the fragrant rice. Yes, all the curries! That final curry soak is what ties the entire plate together—messy, spicy, and utterly divine. Must try!
View on GoogleFirst time I came with my parents on a weekday, food was great. The second time I came on 31 Oct, it was okay only. Still nice but not as great as our first visit. Stall note, I think the way you put the rice and kuah campur matters. It felt like taking rice and dishes at your own home haha
View on GoogleHeard great reviews of this place so my expectations were rather high. It’s pretty hard to find nasi kandar in Singapore so I thought this would be a great place to satisfy my cravings but I was quite disappointed. Sadly, they don’t have ayam bawang (when I was there) which I feel is a must in every nasi kandar. Besides the fried chicken, the other meat option was rendang. The rest were all seafood. Nasi kandar is known for its various flavourful dishes, but Mamak’s didnt really meat this standard. Don’t get me wrong, it’s delicious. I enjoyed my plate of nasi kandar which costed me 13.90 - an all you can eat promo they’re having till end July. But I just feel that it lacks the authenticity of a nasi kandar stall where I can be spoilt for choice! That being said, the choice of vegetables was a lot. I love it. Would be perfect if they had salted eggs too. Their tea was alright, not the best. I would skip their teh the next time. Kudos to their 2 staff at the front counter for managing the crowd during lunch hour. I believe they can assign more staff during peak hours to speed things up. At the same time, I was quite confused at the concept that they’re trying to go for. Is it a self-service eatery or a restaurant? If there was stronger branding and a more cohesive concept for their store, it’ll make the experience eating here more enjoyable!
