We stumbled upon this gem while walking by and were pleasantly surprised by the bustling atmosphere. The friendly staff provided us with some excellent recommendations. The friend mushrooms were a delightful treat, and the noodle soup was equally satisfying. We’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their culinary offerings in the future.
View on GoogleThe food is quite authentic but the portion is too small for the price. 15$ for the rice noodle. The outdoor seats can be quite nice if the weather is good. There is a strong food smell indoor, if u are particular about it, plz reconsider this place
View on GoogleI traveled to Yunnan and loved the food, everything here tastes so spot on and different from those typical yunnan dishes you normally find in the franchise restaurants. BUT THE PORTIONS IS SO SMALL!!! Look at the size of the dishes in comparison to my hands (I have small hands) and the price. The space is cramped and you need to queue for a seat. The outdoor seatings are not the most comfortable one. They seemed to be understaffed too, everyone was hectic and swamped. Hopefully everything else can match the standard of the food. Recommends: grandmother potato, 红三剁, coconut milk bowl
View on GoogleGood experience to try Yunnan food here in SG, can try to request less spicy if you cannot handle spicy food.
View on GoogleI made a reservation at this restaurant in advance, and when I arrived, it was indeed packed. There was outdoor seating available, but the seats were quite low and uncomfortable, plus there were people smoking around. The servers seemed to be locals from Yunnan. We ordered by scanning the QR code on the table. For two people, we got: Xidoufen Rice Noodles, Cold Tossed Fish Mint (Houttuynia Cordata), a portion of Sour Beef Skewers, and Yunnan-style Grilled Chicken. Out of all the dishes, we thought the Cold Tossed Fish Mint was the best—it tasted very authentic. However, the portion was extremely small, just about a fist-sized bowl. If you can handle the strong flavor of fish mint, I’d highly recommend it. As for the Xidoufen Rice Noodles, well… the presentation was decent, but the Xidoufen (pea paste) was too watery, and the noodles weren’t springy enough. The flavor was just average—not very "Yunnan-like." This was one of my favorite dishes when I was in Yunnan, but here, it only slightly eased my cravings. If you just like rice noodles, I’d suggest trying other noodle dishes instead. The Sour Beef Skewers were also quite small, topped with chili flakes. The sourness wasn’t very pronounced, though the texture of the beef was okay. This dish looked special but didn’t taste particularly Yunnan-style. I believe the spices were imported from Yunnan, but somehow, the flavor fell flat. The Grilled Chicken was mediocre—half a chicken for over 20 RMB. They claimed it was free-range, but the texture felt more like regular broiler chicken. Some parts were overly charred, making them taste bitter. Without the dipping sauce, it was just plain bland chicken. I’d say skip this one. Overall, I had high expectations for many dishes, like the rice noodles and Old Grandma’s Potatoes (Laonai Yangyu), but I probably wouldn’t make a special trip back. Some dishes were really not worth the price.
