🍤 Treasure Toast – Surprisingly Good Hokkien Mee & Kaya Toast Treasure Toast may sound like a place famous for its toast, but the walls were covered with photos and reviews of their Fried Hokkien Mee. That was enough to convince us to give it a try. We ordered the regular portion ($8.80), and it arrived quickly. At first glance, it looked exactly like the style we enjoy—a slightly wet Hokkien Mee with rich gravy. One thing we noticed was the higher proportion of thick bee hoon compared to yellow noodles. It gives the dish a slightly different texture and allows the seafood gravy to coat every strand nicely. The noodles carried a pleasant wok hei, while the gravy had a savoury, garlicky flavour that blended well with the sweetness of the prawns. Overall, it had that nostalgic, old-school taste that brought back memories of the Hokkien Mee we grew up eating. For $8.80, we felt it was definitely worth the money. Since the stall is called Treasure Toast, we couldn't leave without trying the kaya toast as well. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The kaya isn't overly sweet—you can actually taste the richness of the palm sugar. Combined with the crispy toast, it was better than many of the well-known toast chains. Sometimes, the best food discoveries are the ones you weren't planning to. IG@mysgfooddiary

I thoroughly enjoyed the kaya toast without butter, it was truly delicious! 😋 The coffee was perfectly balanced and wonderfully smooth, not acidic at all. ☕ A good toast set slightly better than yakun👍 Takeaway the fried hokkien mee as will be too much. Also heard from food blogger that hkm tastes better when takeaway. Tried it after a while (10 mins) and the noodle is al dente and this dish is lardy and full of flavour. The chilli is good and spicy. Give it a try if you are in Bugis or City Hall area.

Always good. The kaya toast is rightly lauded for the lightness of the bread and the lovely flavour of the "melty" kayu. Get a napkin ready. Great for a weekend morning but be there early coz Purvis Road streetside parking gets crowded by 9am. Hokkien mee is legendary for its wokhei too. Economic beehoon is nice as well.

I guess I’m one of those who differ. Had the fried Hokkien mee and I found sooo salty. Chilli also sooo salty. But I agree the gravy is rich and flavourful. Overall experience - nah too salty for me. Place gets so noisy during peak lunch time as noise echoes in an air conditioned unit with tiled floors. Teh c was good but not memorable. Dont like the scanning for order service because when your dish is done, your number ding dong so loud. And you got to get it quick or else you keep hearing the ding dong. When several dishes are ready you can imagine the ding dong going on for a while. So not coming back again. Sorry. 😔 you won’t be able to hear yourself speak during peak period.

Tried the Hokkien mee with tiger prawns (for 2 pax) and it was okay overall. The noodles themselves were still good — flavorful and nicely done. However, the prawns were quite disappointing as they didn’t have much flavor and didn’t feel very fresh. That said, the overall taste of the dish was still decent. I’d probably come back again, maybe for breakfast or to try other items instead.
