Supreme Pork Chop Rice is one of those stalls that has been around for a long time. I remember eating here even before I left Singapore, which was almost nine years ago. They’re known for their fried pork chop and chicken chop rice, and while my last experience was a takeaway, this time I had it at the shop itself. The whole place has a very old-school, canteen-style feel, which actually added to the nostalgia. The pork chop was served freshly fried and heated up, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The marinade and seasoning had that familiar old-school taste, the kind of pork chop flavour many of us grew up enjoying. The rice was a little hard and tough, but it was still okay with some sauce drizzled over. Not too sure about the mixed vegetables on the side, but overall, a very decent pork chop rice fix around the area.
View on GoogleThis eatery is located at the basement of Bulkhaul building, which is at the junction of Beach Road and Middle Road. You enter via the flight of steps at the side of the building just behind the junction. The owners run the whole food court but the main items to eat here are the pork chop or chicken chop, which you can pair with plain rice, fried rice or Chinese noodles. I prefer the Chinese noodles which are like Lor Mee noodles, but it’s off-white in color and tastes like La mian. Having noodles also makes the meal light and I don’t feel too bloated after too much rice. The prices have increased from last time and the smallest order is $7. I had the fried pork chop with La mian. The amount was meat was quite a bit. The noodles were blanched with several pieces of Napa cabbage, and drizzled with a sauce. They added some fried chili flakes oil on the side, that was rather salty. They also provide a bowl of soup, which had cabbage slices and carrot slices within. The vegetables taste raw as they are not cooked in the soup but rather as a garnish. The soup is tasty. You can also take the chili dip at the counter, which is similar to chicken rice chili dip. They also sell coffee, tea and soft drinks. It can get stuffy as it is not air conditioned. They do have wall mounted fans to circulate the air. You can also bring your food to road level as there are some tables and chairs there. After dining, you will need to return your plate and tray at the basement level. You may miss this eatery if you just walked past it, as it is at the basement of the building. Try it. 😋
View on GoogleBeen following their stall since I first know them from Shaw tower, after moving a few times they seems to settled here opposite where Shaw tower used to be at the basement. Would say although the price increase over the years, it's not too big a jump so still acceptable for me. Glad to see the owner and his wife around although they handover the cooking to others. Personally I prefer the 3 cup chicken and Fish Fillet over their pork chop, but my ex colleague used to always order they pork chop rice. The air circulation here is not as good during recent visit and it's sort of quiet after office hour. Ordered my favourite Fish Fillet rice and it's still as crunchy and fresh. Unfortunately my office is no longer near town these days so it's only on rare occasions I can eat here.
View on GoogleBest believe the 1* reviews here. Not sure why people willingly subject themselves to prison cookhouse standards when they can take their money elsewhere. I was coerced to come here by my colleagues who were excited about cheap grub. Truly nasty stuff.
View on GoogleOrdered fish fillet rice. It was freshly fried and tastier than the pork chop (had a slice of that too). Soup given was on the milder side. Overall, it's an affordable fuss-free dining experience, but not if you're looking for a weekend treat.
