Previously patronised this establishment with my cycling companions approximately two to three years ago when the atmosphere was vibrant and the premises were consistently packed. Kitty and I returned for dinner recently and were surprised to find the restaurant significantly quieter, with only a few tables occupied. The service remains a highlight, and the non Chinese staff were very accommodating. Upon collecting our meal, I noted that Kitty’s fried pork set did not include minced meat. The server kindly explained the menu difference but proceeded to add some to her bowl regardless, which was a gesture we greatly appreciated. However, the culinary experience was somewhat disappointing on this occasion. The soup was served at a temperature that was barely lukewarm rather than being piping hot. Furthermore, the noodles were notably oily due to an overabundance of onion oil, and the fried pork was overly salted. The chilli failed to make a significant impact, and the meal lacked the impressive quality I remember from years ago. While the service is commendable, the consistency of the food has unfortunately declined.

This place has some of the best ban mian ever! If you’re in Bencoolen, highly recommended to come check this place out :)) The dry chili ban mian is so addictive, and if you don’t want something spicy there’s also the spinach soup, which is just as good! Their spicy garlic lala is fresh and hot, I love it a lot! It’s also open all the way until 3am, so you can even stop by for a delicious midnight snack. 😋😋

I had my first experience at the Kovan outlet and it left me with an impression.. hence i had always wanted to visit them again. So i was at bugis the other day and i manage to have my lunch there. But i was disappointed.. Ordered their dry version. Had requested to separate out the chilli... the chilli itself is bearable for me, i am not a big fan of spicy food.. but the chilli was those paste-y type and not those granular type which the latter would taste better.. The noodles, pretty bland, no black sauce... but the texture wad cooked al dente.. soup was really really bland.. Fried shallots and onions are not crispy and had gone stale and tasted kinda bitter, maybe due to overdue cooking oil.. like wise the anchovies was not crunchy either.. Overall, i would say it is an overpriced white noodles.. price you see on the menu is not nett... you need to add gst to it... Place has no air con but it doesn't bother me..

Ordered their Dry Chilli Mee Hoon Kueh. Look at how clumpy the noodles turned out. Literally cooked and prepared without any soul. Their set menu comes with choices of chicken cutlet, pork cutlet etc. The meat is not only dry but not crispy (soggy). The same lady preparing food in the kitchen also assumed the same role as the cashier taking orders. No more next time for us.

I was disappointed with the ban mian, it was totally a waste of effort to find my way there. The noodle was very soft, close to being overcooked and not QQ. It was bad. I only digested 1/4 of it. The tofu was good. The iced kopi was too sweet for my liking , it was pre-made and the sweetness could be adjusted
