Interesting dishes, adding to the diversity of cuisines that make Singapore a culinary destination. Not an affordable place though. Everything is chargeable, including the inconspicuous small box of tissues ($1) & takeaway box ($0.50 ea). Our preferred dishes are: - mashed eggplant & chilli with century egg ($13.80) - stir-fried pork with chilli peppers ($21.80) - traditional handmade braised pork belly ($31.80) Their bowls of white rice were pleasantly enjoyable. We wished the braised chicken feet ($18.80) was more tender. We wouldn’t order these dishes again: - Hunan radish sticks (pickled, $12) — too hard to chew into - Mustard cucumber ($9.80) — served chilled and with a wasabi-tinged soy sauce dip The iced teas ($4.80 per cup) were refreshing: Dancong Oolong lemon tea, Jasmine lemon tea. Restaurant does not take reservations; walk-ins only
View on GoogleMy favourite Hunan restaurants in Singapore — already my 5th visit! Would happily sit outdoors even when there’s no seat available 😂 Love that every dish tastes freshly cooked with real wok hei, not the usual lukewarm, mass-produced flavours. The stir-fried eel is a must-try — huge pieces, crispy and tender. The poached beef tripe is also addictive, and even the non-spicy dishes are amazing. The bamboo shoots were so good they even won over my Hangzhou friend! Authentic, flavourful, and definitely worth coming back for.
View on GoogleReally enjoyed our meal at Xiangyee Hunan Cuisine! 🌶️ We tried the stir-fried eel, stir-fried cured pork with preserved radish, and the oil-tossed shredded tripe. The dishes were full of bold, aromatic Hunan flavors, with a good level of spice and plenty of character. The cured pork with preserved radish was especially delicious with a bowl of Wuchang rice. A great option if you enjoy authentic Hunan cuisine and happen to be around Orchard Road or Dhoby Ghaut. Just a small tip: some dishes may sell out later in the day, and dinner service can get quite busy, so it’s probably better to come a little earlier or avoid peak hours. Overall, a satisfying meal and definitely a place I’d consider visiting again! 🌶️🍚
View on GoogleThe authentic wok-hei Hunan stir-fries here are incredible! Staff told me all chilies and cured meats are imported straight from Hunan, and my Hunanese friend even loved the genuine flavors—just be ready for lots of spicy peppers. I’ve brought friends here three times already, even if I need weeks to recover from the heat. Don’t miss the silky melt-in-mouth sour cabbage pig’s blood soup, fluffy handmade cheese siu mai, and flavourful steamed bamboo shell fish where the tofu tastes even better than the fish!
View on GoogleAuthentic Hunan food on Orchard Road. Hot pot style tripe was fresh and crunchy, chicken giblets with pickled chili had a nice kick. The mushroom egg custard hotpot was a pleasant surprise, silky with good mushroom flavor. Quite spicy overall so be warned if you’re sensitive to heat
