We strolled in at 6pm on a weekend evening was able to get a seat. Ordered the dry prawn noodles and the signature white bee hoon extra large noodles that cost a princely $17.90. The white bee Hoon was seriously good, the bee Hoon was drenched in the flavourful sauce which made the entire dish so tasty. The prawns wasn’t that big as they made it out to be but still fresh enough nonetheless. You got to pair it with the soup , it’s packed with strong Unami taste. Best of all, it’s free to top up! So drink to your own content! The service is good as they provide paper for you to throw the deshelled prawns and they even throw in free wet wipes! Highly recommended! Another Michelin stall conquered!
View on GoogleDa Shi Jia Big Prawn Mee/大食家大大大虾面 has earned the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand award for multiple consecutive years. The stall is run by the 2nd generation of Big Eater Seafood/大食家海鲜, which has since rebranded as Good Fortune Seafood/福满海鲜. I ordered the S$9.80 Prawn Mee Combo, their ultimate all in one premium bowl. It’s the perfect choice for a greedy eater like me who wants a bit of everything. The combo comes generously loaded with : * 2 prawns * 3 clams * 1 prawn ball * 1 pork ball * 1 Braised pork ribs * Sliced pork * Fish cake slices * Bean sprouts * Kangkong * Crispy pork lards * Deep fried shallots with shallot oil The broth is deeply umami rich, naturally sweet, & very comforting. It isn’t overly salty, allowing the natural sweetness of the prawns & pork to come through. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, & every component comes together beautifully in a well balanced bowl. The deep fried shallots & fragrant shallot oil add an extra layer of aroma & richness to the soup. This is one of the rare places that I’ve given a 5 stars rating on Google Reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you’re a fan of prawn noodles, this is a must try at least once. It serves one of the finest bowls of prawn soup noodles in Singapore. Worth every cent for a satisfying, all in one bowl packed with both meat & seafood. The Michelin recognition is well deserved 🍜 🦐 🥰
View on GoogleVisited on a weekend afternoon. It was quite crowded but I managed to get a table within 5 minutes. Everyone would be coming here for the prawn mee but I decided to come here to check out the pao fan. Ordered a pao fan, salted egg chicken and a drink. Drink came within minutes and it is one of the most interesting and great drink I have tasted. The green apple and sour plum was really an interesting combination and uncommon and it tasted very nice and refreshing. Would have ordered another glass if I wasn't so full. It is like a "must order" drink here cause there is one almost on every table. Then came the pao fan. I ordered the one with the big prawn and erm was quite disappointed they actually called it big prawn but the size just looked very average. However I have to say in general the soup was good and so the flavours of the pao fan was rather rich and was tasty. The only nuance I had for the dish was that it was lacking the crispy element which most pao fan places would have added the rice crispies but this one was quite flat. Also got the salted egg chicken, the sauce wasn't memorable but the fried chicken was quite well executed and it was quite crispy throughout the meal. Felt the prices here though in Orchard Road was quite reasonable. Portions were decent and filling. Prawn lovers this is the place to come and get your fix.
View on GoogleOrdered pork ribs prawn noodles with added prawns. The pork ribs were tender and the serving size was quite generous. As for the broth, it tasted like a fairly standard prawn noodle soup that you can find at many other places, nothing particularly memorable. We also tried their signature wok-fried extra-large prawn white bee hoon and the big prawn poached rice. The bee hoon came with only one XL prawn sliced into halves, along with some lala & pork slices, despite costing over $18. Fortunately the prawn-flavoured sauce coated every strand nicely and delivered a good umami flavour overall. However, it leaned noticeably towards the salty side. The same for the poached rice, which was even saltier in my opinion. We were left feeling quite thirsty after the meal. The other downside was the ongoing construction works directly opposite the shop. The noise and dust made the dining experience rather uncomfortable and took away from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Overall, decent food with some highlights, but the overly salty dishes and uncomfortable dining environment due to the nearby construction works make it difficult for me to rate it higher.
View on GoogleIt's pretty warm around 7pm without much AC. I love prawn noodle soup and have been to quite a few places, but the food at Da Shi Jia Prawn Noodle isn't really anything special, 2 small prawns, some slice fish cakes and a meatball. It doesn't give me the wow factor. Personally, I like thick beehoon better than thin beehoon for prawn noodle soup. This will probably be my first and last time dining there.
