Portions are generous and good for sharing. My octopus salad, meant for one person was in fact good for two. Garlic fries were addictive as long as they are hot, when cold, they were limp and rather unpalatable. Companion commented her portobello mushroom salad was way too salty .. so were some of the other dishes. Mac & cheese burger was really photogenic and we loved the presentation; it did okie on the taste front. Spathe does not serve water on tap, they'll charge you mineral water at SGD 10 for 1 litre!!

I really wanted to like this place, but no luck. Went in for Sunday brunch for two, about an hour after they opened. First problem, they won't give you water unless you pay $7 for a bottle. To me, this is a deal-breaker. Second problem, ordered a ginger spritzer drink that was bitter and gross. When we told the server that there seemed to be a problem with it, he responded that we were wrong and that it was exactly how it was meant to be. I said that he was wrong, and that there was no way someone could intentionally make this drink, he just repeated his prior response. I asked to speak to a manager, and he said he was the manager. He offered to get us a replacement, but we just had it taken off the bill. Final problems, when the food arrived. I'd asked for eggs over-easy (no runny white, runny yellow), but they came overcooked (fried eggs). Bacon was deep-fried, which ruins the bacon as it replaces the normal flavors with whatever cheap oil is used for the vat. Salad had a light dressing on it, but it had absolutely no flavor. Chiabata toast was cold, dry, and very small. Sausage was a hot dog. I think that we aren't the only people that have found this place disappointing - We were the first people there, and only one other single customer came in while we were there. I wanted to like this place, but the food and service was horrible.

Service was horrible. Wait staff repeatedly walked past without looking or stopping, and was rude when it took our order. We had to walk to the front counter and ask for more water because the server wouldn't stop at our table. The food was nasty. The frozen burger patty was raw in the middle and everything else was just deep fried out of the freezer. Seriously awful food and service. I would have complained but I couldn't get the attention of anyone working at the restaurant. We finally had to get up and ask for our check. Never eating here again!

The only restaurant in Singapore that does not offer warm water. There is a gap down after the curtain on the way to the toilet. Sub standard coffee. I ordered a Piccolo, but came a mini foamy capacinno.
