Didnt know makgeolli could taste so good! Sort of a mix between sake and riesling. Thanks to Han for her excellent excellent service and helping us choose a good one. Food overall was amazing as well. Best kimchi pancake i ever had, the mix of kimchi spice and cheese really popped. Kalbi was rich and nutty and perfectly cooked. Loved the cold pork bar bite forgot the name though. Brioche was good but the kombu butter took it to the next level. Wish there was more of it. Weakest dish was probably the mandu, texture was perfect but flavour kinda unmemorable. Desert donuts were super tasty but needed more of the ice cream to balance it out.

Made a reservation for two at 7pm on a Tuesday, and the restaurant was fully booked. Despite having a reservation, we were seated at the bar counter instead of the dining area. The bar stools had no back support, and sitting there for almost two hours was very uncomfortable. Do notw that only groups of more than two will be seated at the proper dining tables. Considering we spent close to S$140 per person, being seated at the bar made the overall dining experience feel poor value for money. We didn't know the chairs were stools for bar seating. As for the food, we ordered four dishes, and the beef was definitely the highlight of the meal. The kimchi pancake wasn't like the traditional pancake, overall the dishes lean towards modern fusion cuisine. We also enjoyed the rice wine flavour we eventually chose. However, the server seemed somewhat reluctant to let us sample the different rice wines before we made our selection, which was a little off-putting. Overall, the food was good enough that we'd like to return to try the other dishes we missed. That said, we'd probably only come back with a larger group if it means being seated at a proper dining table rather than the bar.

Awesome dining experience from start to finish. The ambience is beautiful and the staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming. If you love Makgeolli, they have a great selection to choose from! Honestly, we loved every single dish we ordered, but these three are my fav for the night. Hwe -Seasonal fish, pickled radish, lemon-soy sauce), Gulim Mandu -Black truffle, pork, prawn, soy, chive oil Barbecued Kalbi- US boneless beef ribs, house marinade, tokki (gold) butter sauce, watercress salad, gochugaru vinaigrette Abalone Boribap - Abalone, makkoli-abalone jus, pearl barley, gamtae butter, zucchini, gosari (mountain fernbrake), abalone liver sauce. Will definitely be back again to try the rest of the items on the menu!

Every dish was yum, although I must say the seaweed butter brioche was quite steeply priced at $18 😅 loved the barley rice abalone. Fig burrata salad was on point and the fish perfectly cooked. Am trying not to have sweets but the mochi donut was too good 😃 Definitely coming back to try the beef ribs and some of the other dishes.

Out of everything we ordered, the brioche was easily the highlight of the night. It was incredibly soft and paired beautifully with the seaweed butter. I could have happily ordered another serving just for that. The rest of the dishes were good, but none really stood out. The jujube salad was well balanced and refreshing, while the pancake had an interesting combination of flavours. On the other hand, the toro kimbap and abalone boribap felt like they lacked a bit of depth and flavour. The biggest disappointment was the Iberico pork. At $52 a dish, I was expecting something melt-in-your-mouth tender, but it turned out to be rather chewy and not particularly flavourful, even with the accompanying sauce. It also felt slightly undercooked to me, although that could just be down to personal preference. I’ve definitely had better Iberico pork elsewhere at a lower price. One thing the restaurant did exceptionally well was the hospitality. We were celebrating a birthday, and they kindly waived the charge for our black garlic tart and even surprised us with an extra serving of the makgeolli gelato, complete with candles. The staff were also patient in walking us through the menu and explaining their signature dishes, which made the overall experience feel warm and welcoming. Overall, while I appreciated the warm service and thoughtful birthday gesture, I didn’t feel the food quite justified the price. At around $70 per person (without any alcohol), I came away thinking there are restaurants in Singapore that offer better value for a similar spend.
