First time to SBCD. We made reservations so no need to wait for a seat. Even if we did not, at the time that we were there (1815hrs on a Saturday), there were still quite a few empty tables. It did get filled by about 1845 hrs (saw queue outside). We orderd two set meals - Grilled Teriyaki and Spicy BBQ Pork with the Assorted Soontofu and the Oyster Soontofu. The food was deliciously prepared. We chose the standard spice level just because its our first visit. The soup was flavourful and the grilled meats were well done with a nice hint of char (for the grilled chicken dish). The side dishes were also great with unlimited refills. Did not feel too thirsty after the meal (usually an indication of the amount of msg used). It does taste quite sweet too (usually sugar added in Korean cuisine). The service personnel were very helpful though when it was really crowded, it does take a little time to catch their attention. The restaurant was spacious which made talking possible despite the noise level. In fact, the noise seemed to fade into the background like white noise.

If u dnt want to eat in crowded and noisy settings, making reservation really help. I enjoyed my raw octopus side dishes and the fact they serve tteobokki and fish as side dishes. For some reason, their version of sundubu isnt the kind I'm used to. Their protein were pretty nice especially the pork ribs, belly etc. the spicy grill chicken is expected taste

Came to have dinner, resto was quite busy during dinner time. We ordered combo set of Grilled Chicken with Teriyaki sauce and Seafood Soontofu with spicy level 3 for two of us. Combo set portion is good enough for 2 person. The Grilled Chicken was tender, chicken was juicy and not dry. Teriyaki sauce was nice too. Seafood Soontofu was nice, and served piping hot. Tofu was soft, seafood ingredients were fresh. Spicy level was just nice. The soup portion was decent too, loaded with ingredients. Banchan were good, especially the Tteok-bokki was nice and quite spicy. Rice cake was soft. Fried fish was okay, has many bones inside though. Service was good and food came quick. Atmosphere is nice and comfy.

SBCD Korean Tofu House at Alexandra Retail Centre continues to be one of my go-to places whenever I’m craving comforting Korean food. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual meals and family gatherings This visit, I had the Assorted Soon Tofu and an iced corn tea. The tofu stew arrived bubbling hot and packed with ingredients, with a rich, flavourful broth that was both comforting and satisfying. The silky tofu, seafood, and meat combination worked beautifully together, and the portion was generous without feeling overly heavy As always, the complimentary side dishes were excellent. The kimchi, pickled vegetables, seaweed, and other banchan added plenty of variety to the meal. I also redeemed the fried dumplings, which were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and disappeared very quickly

The assorted soontofu came with 2 prawns, clams, squid, a crab leg, tofu and a few slices of beef. The soup was rich and the mild spicy level paired well with the rice. The seafood pancake was alright, crispy and a decent size but a bit lacking in flavour. The pork belly tofu kimichi was my favourite dish as the pork belly was tender and juicy and went well with the kimchi, though it is quite pricy ($32.90++). There was a nice spread of banchan and i liked that each diner got a small fish, though 2 of us had to wait over 20 minutes for it as they were frying a new batch. The food here is good, though it is quite expensive as after GST and service charge you end up spending nearly $30 or more on a single dish.
