Understand it’s historic, but kinda run down and out dated. Built 1937 and it shows. Neat from a cultural perspective, but wouldn’t expect many tourist to make their way out here. Also, as of June 6 2026, the actual park is closed by Sg Tourism Board. No announced reopening date.

It is such an interesting spot. If you have enough time, I recommend going. However, it is located a little far from downtown. So, when you don't have extra time, and you want to go to popular tourist spots, you will go there next time. I will share some photos.

For a truly spiritual and cultural experience, this quiet and yet unassuming museum explains hell from multiple religions and beliefs. After seeing a wonderful film, take a tour which is included and experience a very dark disney “pirates of the Caribbean” from a much richer and deeper perspective. The ten courts of hell were built in the 1930’s and yet still resonates with power and intensity. We loved the tour that was led by Hemlata. She truly has a great grasp of religion and the connections to that netherworld known as hell!!!

I'm giving them a 4 star review because 90%of the area is closed and it had no timetable for when it will re-open. This makes me angry because I enjoyed my time here and was left wanting to see everything else. Coming here be prepared to take lots of photos, you will see some very odd, funny, and impressive statues and displays. I saw 10% and I spent an hour snapping away and admiring the displays. If you go now the Hell Museum is still 100% open, it's mostly inside and is worth the journey alone.

We arrived just as a free tour was about to start. Pei Si suggested we join and watch the into video after. Pei Si spoke clearly, eloquently and was it was an informative tour. Pei Si is very passionate about the history and culture/religions and it comes across in her manner in which she conducts the tour! It was sad that Haw Par villa was closed for extensive renovations as from what we could see - I imagine it to be fantastical. Hopefully we can come back through Singapore in a couple of years to see it in full glory. I would highly recommend anyone passing through Singapore to take some time out to go to Hell's Museum, even if Haw Par is still closed.
