This is one of my top choices whenever I am at star vista or any mall that has one of the Yayoi restaurants. They serve good quality Japanese set meals, which is also typically what you will see in a traditional Japanese household where meals are served in the similar manner with a protein dish, salad, miso soup, rice and pickles. At Yayoi, you can enjoy free flow rice, miso soup and pickles, all of which are delicious and good quality. The menu choices are quite extensive and they only cook to order, which ensures the freshness and good taste. Japanese rice is very tasty, so I usually go for one more serving of the rice, it is very good even on its own or just with just Furikake (seasoning sprinkle) or pickles. Even th free flow miso soup is excellent, just pairing it with the plain rice is also very enjoyable. As a fast casual or family styled restaurant, Yayoi offers top quality that is superior to other fast casual Japanese restaurants. You more or less get standard Japanese restaurant quality at reasonably affordable prices and the plating and presentation style is also very traditional Japanese, very similar to what you can get in Japan also. The food is enjoyed by both adults and children in our family.

Nice restaurant. They seem to have changed their menu (I was here in 2024). The salmon in my "Salmon Jyu" was coming apart, worst I've seen from a Japanese restaurant. The gyoza looked and tasted like gyoza I could get frozen from a supermarket. I didn't try the takoyaki, but my friend said it was nice. Overall the food is pretty normal, but 100% not worth the price I paid.

Located at Star Vista, Level 2. Price matches serving size. To be honest, the taste is pretty good too. The broth of the Sukiyaka is great, sweet & savory as it supposed to be. The Mabushi is a teaser if you haven't tried. Can be eaten in 3 ways giving a different spice to each level. If u are a big eater, rice & basic salad is refillable (FOC), same applies for the Miso soup. However, I thought the Miso soup was a little blend. Service, nothing special. The regular norms you get at most restaurants. Atmospphere, limited indoor seating (Air-con). Outside is under shelter & ve a lot of fans blowing. Tempreature wise, acceptable but can be a little annoying for ladies with long hair. Damage for 3 pax SGD80+. Overall, my family was sastified. Will definately return.

Had a satisfying meal at Yayoi Japanese Teishoku Restaurant at The Star Vista. Ordered the Unajyu set and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion of unagi. The eel was soft, nicely grilled, and coated in a rich, flavourful sauce that paired perfectly with the fluffy rice and shredded seaweed. The set came complete with a crisp side salad and a warm, comforting bowl of miso soup, making it a well-balanced and filling meal. Overall, good value for the price and a solid choice if you’re craving Japanese comfort food. Would happily return to try other dishes 🍱✨

Open air concept. No aircon but surprisingly not hot. Ordered beef Nabe set and it was quite good. There's free refill for rice, salad, kimchi and pickles. That made it more attractive for me as I wanted more salad. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable by Sg standards.
