Been here a few times recently. It's a fast paced place with a buzzer and self service but it's v affordable and has AC. Tried both the kaya and the peanut butter toast as well as hokkien mee and prawn paste chicken cutlet with fried rice. Honestly all the food is pretty nice. Spread on the toast is v generous and the breas is crispy. Hokkien mee have a good wok hai and are seasoned well and the chicken cutlet is juicy, crispy and just tasty. Fried rice was good too. Big portion size. The food isn't gonna blow your mind but it's rly nice and priced v fair.

Here on a weekday noon for lunch and it wasn’t very crowded. I got the hkm and if you like the wet type, you will like it. Abit of wokhey and j think the seafood are fresh. Chili is good too. They also have discount for hot drinks if you dine in. They have both indoor aircon seatings and outdoor seating as well.

We had the HKM and the Prawn noodle soup. HKM was a little strange, it tasted burnt ..... Not the wok hei kind of taste. Not particularly pleasing type of taste. The prawn noodle bee hoon soup was very good. Good and tasty broth. Only issue for me is that they loaded the whole bowl with too much bee hoon. Wish they have an option to request less noodles. The barley with lemon was too diluted.

Visited Bao Er Cafe in Holland Village recently for a quick lunch. The cafe has a relaxed, airy atmosphere with good natural lighting – a comfortable spot to linger with friends or work. The highlight was definitely their kaya butter toast. It was excellent – thick slices of fresh bread generously slathered with fragrant kaya and butter, toasted to golden perfection with just the right amount of crispness on the outside while staying soft inside. Paired with their kopi or teh, it brought back comforting local flavours done really well. Simple but satisfying. Unfortunately, the Hokkien noodles fell short. The dish had an underwhelming, slightly burnt taste that overpowered everything else. It lacked the rich, smoky wok hei and balanced flavours you’d hope for. The noodles felt a bit mushy and the overall seasoning was off. For the price point, it was disappointing. Service was warm and attentive, and the location is super convenient in the heart of Holland Village. Portions are decent too. I’d definitely go back for the kaya butter toast and drinks, but I’d skip or double-check the Hokkien noodles next time. A solid choice for toast and coffee in the area, just not the best for their noodle dishes.

Visited on a Monday morning just before lunch time at 11:30am. The place was nearly full (even outdoors) and we sought the help of the staff regarding the outdoor seats as we were with our dog. Space between tables were tight and definitely not the most comfortable. We ordered and food took less than 10mins to be ready, which was a pleasant surprise. Portions were generous and prices were great. It was about the price of a meal at hawker centres nowadays. Most items on the menu were well priced and affordable too. The prawn noodles would cater to those who prefer them on the wet side. Noodles were a mix of yellow noodles and thick bee hoon. The sambal was mildly spicy, which is good enough for those who would like a spicy kick but also acceptable to those who cannot take spice. There was a whole lot of seafood, roasted meat and pork lard. Though it may not be the best prawn noodles I have had, I enjoyed it a lot. The kaya butter toast was generous with the kaya, though the creaminess would be the highlight rather than the richness in flavour. The bread was well toasted and crispy. By some mistake, we ordered an additional kaya butter toast set, which the staff kindly packed for us to go. Will visit again, perhaps before dinner, when it is not so warm.
