An old-school Chinatown landmark with plenty of traditional shops & a nostalgic Singapore feel. It’s not a modern shopping mall, but a great place to explore specialist stores, travel agencies & long-established local businesses. Conveniently located next to Chinatown MRT, the building retains a unique charm & character that newer malls often lack. Not to be confused with the nearby People’s Park Complex, which is known for its retail shops, food outlets & distinctive architecture.

People's Park Centre is a fascinating destination that offers a raw and authentic glimpse into Singapore’s local life. Located right in the heart of Chinatown, this mixed-use complex is a stark, nostalgic contrast to the sleek, ultra-modern malls found along Orchard Road. As a visitor, the experience here is like stepping into a time capsule. The building is famous for its eclectic mix of shops. You can find everything from traditional Chinese handicrafts, textiles, and antique jewelry to affordable massage parlors and travel agencies. It is particularly well-known among locals for its extensive range of haberdashery and craft supplies, making it a hidden gem if you are looking for unique souvenirs or DIY materials. One of the biggest draws is the food. The basement and surrounding areas are packed with local eateries and stalls serving authentic dishes at very reasonable prices. It’s a great place to escape the tourist crowds and enjoy a genuine Singaporean meal. Tips for Visitors: • Accessibility: It is incredibly convenient to reach, with a direct link to the Chinatown MRT Station (DT19/NE4). • Atmosphere: The interior can feel a bit dated and labyrinthine, but that is part of its old-school charm. • Nearby Landmarks: It is situated right next to the iconic People's Park Complex and within walking distance of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. If you want to see a side of Singapore that remains deeply rooted in tradition and daily community commerce, People's Park Centre is definitely worth a visit. It’s not just a shopping trip; it’s a cultural experience.

I used to dine at the other side of the foodcourt. Only today chance to walk over here and try out the fried wantons, really taste good and crispy. I observe some of the stalls selling nice food so will come back for more.
