It was my first time patronising Blue Ginger. Our reservation for six was for Thursday dinner. We were given a table just after the main door. I was the first to arrive and notice a male staff directing someone with a reservation "upstairs". That's when I realised they had more tables available. My friend who made the reservation came and asked to change place cos she didn't like being seated at the door. We were moved to the next table (which should be marginally better, but... ) For starters we had Ngoh-hiang, kueh pie tee, vegetarian spring rolls and Gado-gado. I didn't expect the Gado-gado to be cold so it was a surprise. My friend commented on the sauce being not peanut-ty enough. Ngoh hang tasted good, spring rolls were crispy on the outside but mushy inside side. Kueh pie tee was ok, fried prawn noodles tasted ok but the squud was tough. Satay babi was thinly sliced pork and tasted not bad. Buah keluak fried rice is acquired taste and a friend didn't like it (there's plain rice available) Curry vegetables so-so, but I feel the okra were a bit old. While eating, there was this horsefly which we had to keep chasing away. The angmoh guy next-table kept looking our way perhaps bcos of this. The fly eventually torpedo-ed into our kangkong and was stuck due to the liquid, and struggled to wade out of the plate. We called the waitress' attention to it. She asked if we would like to have a replacement. Of course! Some hadn't even tried it. Then she saw a smaller fly on another plate! My friend who was back from London was incredulous at such poor service! But this is Singapore. My conclusion: go Indocafé peranakan dining (near Orchard, housed in a black & white bungalow) instead.

Food was great. Dessert was even better! Love it! Need improvement to service “with a smile”, not to neglect quality attitude even though during peak hours. Had the feel staffs rushing back to their busy work when attending to me. Made me feel no care no concern, just SOP to them.
