Sichuan Village: A Mixed Bag of Flavours in Chinatown My recent return trip to dinner at Sichuan Village in Chinatown presented a somewhat inconsistent culinary experience, with some dishes shining while others left room for improvement. We started with the highly anticipated Boiled Fish with Sour Cabbage and Chilli. While the visual was appealing and the sour cabbage provided a pleasant tang, and the chilli offered a decent kick. However, the sliced fish could have been significantly fresher, which unfortunately detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. The Spicy Sweet Potato Glass Noodles was ok. The noodles had a decent texture and a mild spiciness, but the dish felt rather basic, with only bean sprouts accompanying the glass noodles. A bit more variety in vegetables or a more complex sauce would have elevated this dish. The Sliced Pork with Mashed Garlic was heavily dosed in a pool of red sauce. While the garlic flavour was present, the overwhelming amount of sauce made it difficult to appreciate the quality of the pork itself. It was an okay dish, but lacked finesse. I recalled enjoying this dish more on previous visits, suggesting a potential dip in consistency. On the brighter side, the vegetable dishes were the highlights of the meal. The Fry Cabbage with Dried Chilli was delicious. The cabbage was perfectly cooked, retaining a pleasant crispness, and the dried chilli imparted a lovely aroma and a well-balanced heat. This was a dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. Similarly, the Fried Shredded Potato with Green Chilli was also a winner. The potatoes were thinly shredded and fried to a delightful crisp, with the green chilli adding a fresh, vibrant flavour without being overly spicy. This simple dish was executed perfectly. Finally, the Grilled Mutton was a positive note. The mutton was flavourful and grilled to a nice tenderness, with a hint of seasoning that complemented the meat well. This was another dish that I would happily order again. Overall, my dining experience at Sichuan Village was a bit of a letdown compared to past visits. The significant drop in the quality and flavour of the Boiled Fish and the Sliced Pork was disappointing. However, the vegetable dishes and the grilled mutton were commendable.. The service, I must note, was prompt and attentive throughout the evening. The staff were efficient and responsive to our needs, which was a definite plus. While Sichuan Village offers some enjoyable dishes, the inconsistency in quality across the board makes it a somewhat unpredictable dining experience. I hope to see a return to the higher standards I've experienced in the past.

Recommend their spicy fragrant chicken diced, because crunchy, spicy and literally can feel the meat texture. Boiled Beef with hot chili oil also the beef is very tender. For the first time super enjoy their BBQ Enoki Mushroom with seasoning 😋 End everything with a dessert candied sweet potato! Overall the food is good.

In the heart of Singapore’s Chinatown, Sichuan Village is authentic and delicious. The flavors of each dish were truly rich with flavors of chili’s and fresh ingredients. If you favor more bland food please ask the wait staff for recommendations! We enjoyed two of the restaurant specials - boiled fish with bean sprout in hot chili oil & spicy fragrance chicken diced. I recommend both of them if you are up for wonderful chili flavors! Check it out!

Presently surprised by the food here. Good service and the lady boss was really nice too. Was recommend the beef tenderloin in chili oil and it was good! I really like the lamb skewers here. They were juicy and not overly oily like other restaurants. The garlic was the bomb!

It may seem quite empty compared to nearby Chinese restaurants but the quality of main dishes was superb. Flavourful and spicy enough if you requested to add more chilli. My only complaint was the promotional crayfish meat tasted like frozen for long but the sauce tasted good. Recommend any dish with potato in it. Price was reasonable and I didn't have to wait during dinner time. Will definitely come back again.
