famous 剑记油鸡面 at Chinatown – and it truly lives up to the hype. This is the real deal, old-school 油鸡面 that's getting harder to find these days. The star here is definitely their seasoning – that signature soy sauce blend is aromatic, savoury, and clings perfectly to the tender chicken. I ordered half a chicken for takeaway, and it came with liver and kidney too – a nice bonus for offal lovers! Service was surprisingly fast – I only waited about 5–6 minutes for my takeaway, which is impressive for such a popular stall. Bonus points for accepting PayLah – super convenient since I rarely carry cash these days. Total damage: $22.80 for half chicken, one rice and one noodle

If you are looking for a taste of heritage in the heart of Chinatown, Original Chew Kee Eating House remains a steadfast contender for one of the best soy sauce chickens in Singapore. The Atmosphere & Service Even on a weekday, the place is bustling and crowded during the lunch hour. It’s the kind of establishment where you might have to share a table or wait a few minutes, but that’s all part of the authentic old-school dining experience. Despite the high volume of customers, the staff are remarkably friendly and nice—a refreshing change from the sometimes brusque service found in many famous heritage eateries. The Food Soy Sauce Chicken: The star of the show. The chicken is consistently succulent with a skin that has deeply absorbed the savory-sweet braising liquid. It isn't overly salty, allowing the natural flavor of the meat to come through. Shui Jiao (Dumpling Soup): At just $1 each, the dumplings are an absolute steal. They are well-filled, and the soup provides a clean, light contrast to the rich soy flavors of the main dish. Value for Money Finding a hearty, high-quality meal in this area that doesn't break the bank is getting harder, but Chew Kee delivers. For the price point, getting a whole chicken and adding on quality dumplings makes for an incredibly good and satisfying meal. Final Verdict: Whether you are a local or just passing through Chinatown, this is a must-visit for a no-frills, delicious lunch. Just be sure to arrive a little before or after the peak noon rush if you want to snag a seat quickly!

Old school eatery that specialized in soy sauce chicken. Chicken is very flavourful and tender but alot of bones. Noodle is cook decently well, springy and has a nice bite. Restaurant is small so need to share seats with stranger.

This is one of the OG soy chicken shops in Singapore. Been around for years and a spot for many CBD workers to visit for lunch. The flavors are still pretty much the same imo. Gotta add a bowl of soup woth wonton for $1 to really fill you up if youre a big eater!

The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. The vegetables are fresh too—especially the cucumber, which is nice and crisp. The noodles are springy, so the texture is really good. The price is reasonable, and the service is great too. I even saw some tourists taking a taxi here just to eat, so this place is definitely a must-try in Singapore.
