This cafe has a unique atmosphere on the second floor, with lots of old decorations and displays that make it feel almost like a small museum. I tried the chilli crab pork chop with rice, and it was pretty good, with a nice balance of sweet and spicy flavors. The Teh C was also enjoyable and went well with the meal. It is a fun place to stop if you want both food and an interesting setting.
View on Google25Jun2026 We chanced upon this coffee place and after ordering our takeaway of Bak Kut Teh, we managed to visit their little old museum. It was very nostalgic as we could see many things of the past. It is very rare nowadays to see these things and we were glad to get here. The Bak Kut Teh was okay and not spicy at all. You may want to try their other foods if you happened to be near here.Overall it was a pleasant experience 😀😀😀😀😀😀

The half-boiled eggs were cooked well with a smooth texture, making them the highlight of the meal. The toast was decent, but the butter portion was rather stingy, so it lacked the rich, creamy bite that makes a traditional kaya toast more satisfying. The biggest disappointment was the coffee. There was noticeably more condensed milk than coffee, resulting in an overly sweet drink where the coffee flavour was barely noticeable. If you prefer a strong, aromatic kopi, this might not hit the mark. The café is located in a popular tourist area, which may explain its popularity. However, the seating area felt quite dim, making it difficult to fully enjoy the meal, especially indoors. Overall: ⭐ 3.3/5 A convenient stop for a traditional breakfast in Chinatown, but the overly sweet coffee, modest butter portion, and dim seating make
View on GoogleMy first meal in Singapore was a bit mixes at Nanyang Old Coffee; visiting early in the morning meant it wasn't busy and service was quick, but the food and hospitality left something to be desired. While the pork belly and wontons were decent, the noodles themselves were incredibly soggy and soft, making the dish feel pretty mediocre overall. To top it off, while the first server was fine, the second lady I encountered when ordering a quite tasty iced coffee with condensed milk seemed genuinely unhappy to answer questions, leaving a distinctly unfriendly vibe. Whether that's just local service culture or a one off bad morning, I'd say come here for the good coffee, but skip the noodles.
View on Google5 stars for Nanyang Old Coffee at Chinatown. The kopi was rich, fragrant, and well-balanced with a smooth finish. You can really taste the traditional roasting style, bold but not overly bitter. The toast set complemented the coffee perfectly, with crispy bread, fragrant kaya, and butter that melted nicely into every bite. Service was quick and efficient even during the busy period, and the atmosphere had that classic old-school coffee shop feel. It’s a great place to slow down for a proper local breakfast or afternoon coffee. Simple menu done right, strong traditional flavors, and consistent quality. Definitely a spot worth coming back to when in Chinatown.
