A wonderful little place in town that seats 16. Marukyu serves up with a rather good Japanese Omakase selection, making them stand out from the bevy of Korean BBQ shops spattered across the area. Great attentive service from their wait staff. Checking frequently to make sure our cups are filled and promptly clearing away emptied dishes. Will help speed things along if the staff were familiar with their own menu. Thankfully their super friendly head chef was moving around the front of house to make recommendation of the seasonal catches as well as his yummy specials. Food coming out from the kitchen was beautifully plated up, a feast for the eyes. Did not disappoint.
View on GoogleOne of the disappointing omakase experience I’ve had. Food is not great, staff is not knowledgeable and reservation got bumped. One of the omakase experience is having the staff explain to you every dish that you’re eating and what order to eat them. 50% of the meal, the staff didn’t even say a word and just told us to eat in any order you like. Food didn’t feel expensive even though we went for the top range. 3 stars because it’s a small and quiet place. Nice ambience for a get together. Come but don’t come for the food and service.
View on GoogleI loved the vibes of the place - clean and calm. Came by during lunch and had the lunch set, the seafood is fresh. First time I truly enjoyed swordfish, tuna and scallops! It was definitely a good experience. I look forward coming again.
View on GoogleGreat place to dine for Japanese food. Chef was chatty and attentive. Price is also reasonable for the quality of the food you get. Give it a try!
View on GoogleIf you're in the CBD and craving authentic Japanese cuisine, this place is a must-visit! I had the teriyaki fried chicken bento set for lunch, and it was outstanding. The chicken was very tender and packed with flavor, and the portion size was generous. The set also came with fresh and thick-cut sashimi, a steamed egg, miso soup with tofu, and a side of pickled vegetables. The Japanese rice was perfect, as always. For the price, the quality and portion size it’s truly great value for money. Plus, they offer Omakase, so I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend this spot for anyone in the CBD craving delicious, fresh and affordable Japanese food!
