I had heard that Lee Family Wonton Mee is famous in Thailand, so I was excited to finally try it at their Chinatown location on Smith Street. My husband and I each ordered the set meal at $15, which includes their signature wonton mee and a Thai milk tea. The noodles were springy and cooked just right, with generous portions of ingredients. I particularly loved the roast pork, while my husband enjoyed the wontons. You can also add chili yourself from the condiment trolley near the cashier at the back. We also had the pleasure of meeting the lady boss, who was incredibly friendly and made a point to chat with customers to ensure everything was good. Great food, warm service, and excellent value for money. Definitely worth a visit if you're a wonton mee lover—we'll be back!
View on GoogleLee Place Wanton Mee/李苑港式云吞面 in Chinatown serves Thai style Hong Kong wanton noodles, originating from a Bangkok brand established in 2002. The restaurant is certified with Thai’s prestigious Shell Chuan Chim Award (Green Bowl logo), often regarded as the local equivalent of a Michelin recognition. I tried their newly launched Champion Noodles with Crab Dumplings ($13.90). The bowl came with green vegetables, 3 crab dumplings, 3 prawn dumplings, 4 pork wantons, plus 5 slices each of char siew & roasted pork. The thin egg noodles were firm & springy, delivering a satisfying al dente QQ bite. The char siew was lean but still tender enough, with an old school style texture. The roasted pork skin was a little soggy & lacked the crunch I was expecting. The various dumplings were decent, though none really stood out to me. One thing I liked was the free flow crispy pork lard at the self service sauce station. Add as much as you want to your dry noodles for extra crunch & flavour. Overall, a decent bowl of Thai style wanton noodles that gives you a taste of Bangkok street food without leaving Singapore.
View on GoogleLee Place Wanton Mee (Chinatown) - Worth a Try After a Long Ride After a long afternoon cycling through the city, Donkey and I found ourselves in Chinatown around 9:30 PM, totally famished. We needed some serious fuel before our ride home, so we decided to check out Lee Place Wanton Mee. I'd heard that it was founded in Bangkok by a Singaporean, has some accolades in Thailand, and now it's bringing its MSG-free, Hong Kong-inspired noodles to Singapore. The backstory definitely intrigued us! We also saw it had a pretty good Google rating, so we were curious if it was more of a tourist trap or if it was genuinely good for locals. The location on Smith Street in Chinatown is super easy to get to. The restaurant itself is simple and clean, with basic wooden furniture. For dinner, I went with Set A Superior, and Donkey chose Set B Wanton. Mine was $15 and came with a Thai milk tea, and Donkey's was $10 with a Thai green milk tea. At first, $25 for both seemed a little steep, but looking at the individual prices, it made more sense. My noodles were $6.90, Donkeys were $11.90, and the drinks were around $3 each. Considering we were in tourist-heavy Chinatown, the prices were actually pretty reasonable. When the noodles arrived, they weren't mixed at all! We were a little worried that they forgot the sauce or something. But after mixing everything together really well, the flavor totally came alive. The noodles were really good quality – they had a nice bounce and didn't get all clumpy. The char siu (barbecued pork), the prawn dumplings, and all the other dumplings were delicious. The Thai milk tea was okay, but nothing special. Overall, we thought Lee Place Wanton Mee served really satisfying and well-made noodles. We didn't have time to try everything on the menu, but we'd definitely recommend the noodles. One small thing – the chili sauce could be better! We think a really good chili sauce could take these noodles to the next level. Google Rating: - Food: 4/5 (Wanton Mee) - Delicious noodles, good quality ingredients. - Food: 3/5 (Thai Milk Tea) - Okay, but nothing special. - Atmosphere: 3/5 - Simple and clean. - Overall: 4/5 - Worth a try if you're in Chinatown! The noodles are satisfying and well-made. Could be even better with a better chili sauce.
View on GoogleHappened to pass by and decided to try after reading the reviews. Would say this is for those with "重口味". I had the big trio noodles and fried wanton. The wanton and dumplings in the trio noodles tasted very sweet and salty. Maybe it's Thai style.. and literally not not my style. Texture of the meat is soft and smooth though, and so is the thin wanton skin. Fried wanton was...scary, oil oozing with every bite. Left the place with a cloying oily aftertaste in my mouth. Tables were not clean while i was there. Took a while for staff to clear the tables even though the place was less than half full
View on GoogleI was looking for a quick bite near my stay and came across this wonderful spot. It was clean and budget-friendly, making it all the more inviting. The BBQ Pork Noodles were absolutely fantastic, truly exceeded my expectations—definitely a 10/10!
