Had a craving for economy rice and came by with a lunch kaki. As their stall name suggests, their speciality is curry fish head, and they also have a variety of cooked dishes to choose from, similar to most economy rice stalls. Some of their signatures include mutton rendang and sambal cockles. This is a chain of economy rice stall that have branches in Toa Payoh, Bedok North and Telok Ayer. We visited the Telok Ayer outlet which is located in a corner shophouse unit and it is diagonal to Amoy Street Food Center. We brought an appetite and ordered the following dishes to share. - Curry fish: We had an option of fish head, fish tail or fish meat. We opted for fish meat, which were two cuts of fish served in a claypot. The claypot was served last to the table and when the lid was removed, there was lots of steam and the contents were bubbling hot. The fish cuts were thick and substantial. The fish curry was thick and had a hint of assam. There were slices of brinjal, lady finger and pineapple within. - Salted egg prawns: Whole peeled prawns sautéed with salted egg yolk sauce. This was cold. - Sweet and sour pork: mix of pork cubes and pork chop with cucumbers and onions in a sweet and tangy sauce. - Sautéed Kang Kong with belachan - Lontong vegetables: Cabbage, long beans, carrots, turnip and taupok in a turmeric curry gravy. We each had a plate of white rice, which went well with the curry gravy. For drinks, I had the warm barley which was home made and my kaki had a Coke Zero. The meal costs $60 in total. For dine-in, there are some seats inside and tables along the five foot way, which is a more unique dining experience. Recommended for the quality of food. 😋👍🏼👍🏼 But price can be on the high side. 😅

The curry fish tail at Gold Ocean Curry FishHead in Singapore's Chinatown was Amazing!! It came out bubbling hot and steamy. The fish tail was full of fall-off-the-bone tender white meat. The Assam curry broth was so rich and warm, I couldn't decide if I wanted to drink it or bathe in it! While we were waiting for the made-to-order claypot fish tail curry, we ordered the mutton curry, bok choy, choy sum off the line that all came out immediately. The mutton had a nice flavor, but sadly, it was cold… not even lukewarm... cold. The veggies were soooo good... tender without being mushy and perfectly seasoned. We've had plenty of fish head curry in Little India and we love it. This Assam curry broth differs from the Indian red curry broth in that it is a bit more sour-sweet... yet, equally addictive! I would not expect a lot from the dishes you can order off the line; however, the made-to-order dishes are outstanding! We will be back.

Order fish head doesn’t need to queue for the mixed vegetables rice. Curry fish is very fresh. Though the fish head is quite small. Vegetables in it are fresh too. Ladies fingers fresh and the tomato as well as pineapple slices in it are great make it very unique. More sour. However the coconut milk might not be very fresh. Environment is quite normal.

Very delicious curry fish head. They have a line of mixed rice dishes for you to go with the curry fish head. You can opt for the mixed rice only if you want. Ordering the curry fish head would allow you to secure a table for your group immediately. Mixed rice is slightly on the pricier side, generally costing $5+ to $9 depending on how many meat you selected. However, it is worth it for the taste and quality. Vegetables are freshly cooked unlike most of the other mixed rice you find outside. They have a fresh batch of vegetables at night too, which is not commonly found in other mixed rice places.
