A lovely spot for afternoon tea. Opened in July 2026, this specialty bakery keeps its menu refreshingly simple by focusing exclusively on shio pan, and it does it exceptionally well. One of the most unique part of the experience is that customers heat up their own shio pan using the microwave provided. Enjoying it freshly warmed brings out the rich buttery aroma, while the bread develops a crisp exterior, a soft and fluffy centre, and the perfect hint of salt. Paired with a hot coffee or an iced latte, it makes for a simple yet satisfying tea break. If you’re a fan of freshly baked shio pan, this place is definitely worth a visit. As a bonus, it’s conveniently located right next to a bus stop, directly opposite a 7-Eleven, and close to a public car park, making it easy to access.
View on GoogleFrom a famous hawker stall at Holland Drive to having its very own shop along South Bridge Road, Butter Town Breakfast Club has certainly come a long way. Tried the Original Shio Pan, and it’s easily one of the best I’ve had in Singapore. Beautifully crisp on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside, with that fragrant, moist buttery richness coming through in every bite. Also had the Garlic Shio Pan — taking that same buttery base and adding cream and garlic for an even richer, more indulgent experience. The extra savoury punch really elevates the entire shio pan. If you love buttery bread with that perfect crisp-and-fluffy contrast, this is definitely one to try.
View on Google⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Buttertown — The Shio Pan That Converted Me To be honest, I didn’t even want to try shio pan until I had my first bite of Buttertown’s. I’d never really understood what the hype was about. It was just another pastry to me until I took that first bite. And then… okay, I get it now. 😂 That first shio pan completely changed my mind. The outside was beautifully crispy and flaky, while the inside was soft, airy and buttery. That combination of textures was what got me. It wasn’t just good it made me want to try more. So much so that I’ve already been to Buttertown twice. The first visit was takeaway because there wasn’t a seat available. No complaints though I was already too excited about the shio pan to wait. 😂 On my second visit, I was lucky enough to find a really good seat, so I could finally sit down and enjoy everything fresh. The pistachio shio pan is probably my favourite. It is SO good. 🤤 The pistachio flavour works beautifully with the buttery, slightly salty pastry. This is the one I’d happily order again without thinking twice. The plain shio pan is fantastic on its own, but what really surprised me was how well it goes with their curry. Dip that crispy, buttery shio pan into the curry and you’ve got a ridiculously satisfying combination. Sometimes the simplest pairing is the best. Then there’s the azuki butter shio pan. ❤️ I absolutely love this one. The sweetness of the azuki with the buttery and slightly savoury shio pan is just chef’s kiss. Definitely one of my favourites. My boy immediately fell in love with the chocolate shio pan. 🍫 That one was a clear winner for him. And then there’s my daughter, who had been craving the lemon shio pan. Ironically, the lemon was available during our first visit, but she didn’t get it then. When we came back for our second visit and she was finally craving it… it was no longer available. 😭 The disappointment was real. 😂 So now, I guess we have an unfinished mission, is to come back and get that lemon shio pan! What I really love about Buttertown is the texture. For me, a good shio pan needs that contrast of crispy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. Buttertown nailed that combination, and unfortunately for every other shio pan I try from now on, they’ve set the benchmark. And this is coming from someone who didn’t even want to try shio pan in the first place. 😂 My picks so far: 🥇 Pistachio — absolutely must try 🥈 Azuki Butter — love this 🥉 Plain + curry — surprisingly addictive 🍫 Chocolate — my boy’s favourite 🍋 Lemon — still waiting for our chance! Buttertown didn’t just make a good shio pan. They made me a shio pan convert. And now I understand the hype. 🤌🏻
View on Googlethis is my no.1 FAV FAV FAV shio pan!! 🫶🏻🥰it has the perfect amount of softness and fluffiness of a bread but still have that bottom layer of crunch! sooo buttery! LOVE IT!! 😍
View on GoogleLoving the Lemon Meringue Shio Pan here. Nice ambience, a variety of choices. Accesible location. At the Butter Town Breakfast Club, there are beverages from Crema Cafe to expand our idea what great coffee is. I prefer warm coffee. The Crema Lioness is a creative brew yet I prefer it served warm simply because of personal preference. Overall, a nice place for shio pan in Chinatown.
