The Hainan Story Coffee House (Chinatown Point)
The Hainan Story was created to celebrate the love of Hainanese food for Singaporeans. Hainanese immigrants were among the last Chinese communities to arrive in Singapore after the Teochews, Hokkiens, and Cantonese.

Just had a Gula melaka butter toast set earlier on at Chinatown point branch, receipt no yq-32. Requested for a change of eggs as the 1 of the eggs were too raw. The kitchen staff were like mumbling" all the same what" so I just stand and look how the staff handle the eggs. She took out 2 eggs separately and added hot water to it, while waiting she was cleaning the area with a cloth while with the blue gloves on. Same goes with washing of utensils and plates with gloves on. So when the eggs seems ready she proceed to crack the eggs with the very same blue gloves. I rejected the eggs and told her she should be using different/new gloves to prepare food instead. Reluctantly, she changed gloves and prepare again. I just want to bring up 1point, are all your kitchen staffs certified with Food hygiene course?
View on GooglePersonally, I luv the Fried Bun with Dong Po Pork while my friends like the Lala Claypot The toast is not that good as too thick, resulting in feeling cld due the cold butter and spread Staffs are friendly and helpful while cafe is well kept
View on GoogleI have always wanted to dine in Hainan Story. When I chanced upon this newly open outlet, I went in immediately. There are many food choices on the menu and I wanted to try EVERYTHING! Food did not disappoint. But I must say the self service workflow needs improvement. Food dishes were ready at different times, and we found ourselves going back and forth between our table and the pick up counter several times. And when other diners are doing the same thing, it becomes quite chaotic and annoying.
View on GoogleThere’s not a lot of options for local breakfast food within a mall at 9am. The Hainan Story is one of the choices located in central Singapore. To be honest, I saw the Google ratings and it is a rather accurate representation of what I would have given it. The Hainanese Englishmen ($9.90+) looked edible but also just the bare minimum of what would be deemed acceptable to be served in a shop. 🥓🍳🍞 The toast set ($5.80+) was not bad, with generous slabs of butter and a unique gula melaka kaya spread. The yuan yang c and kopi were decent as well. 🍞☕️ Ordering system was confusing as you had to scan-to-order but walk to to the cashier to make payment before having your order be sent to the kitchen.
View on GoogleThe curry rice was supposed to be delicious, but it turned out to be just average. The curry lacked kicking flavor, and the pork was tasty, but the fried fish was not as good, can be skipped. The chili added a nice spicy kick to the dish. Considering the price, it could have been better.
