After trying the polo bun from their other bakery outlet, I walked into this restaurant with some expectation. Right at the entrance, I was greeted by self-service kiosks. Simple enough, until it asked me to scan a buzzer... with no buzzers in sight. The staff only brought one over after seeing me look around completely lost! The seating area is incredibly cramped. Having to squeeze in and out of the tight space just to self-collect my food was definitely a mood dampener. As for the food, I ordered the Roasted Pork with Rice. It was acceptable, but nothing to write about. They served it with mustard sauce, which kinda threw me off because I don't remember having that in HK. Go in with the right expectations. It’s fast, casual, and a bit impersonal. And it reminded me of having a meal in HK. Come for a quick bite, but maybe skip it if you're looking for a cozy meal.
View on GoogleTogether with my friend, we visited So Good Cafe at 111 Somerset for breakfast and chat last Friday. We had wanton noodles, coffee, toasted milk-butter bread, and the crispy condensed milk bun. The food was good and the service was efficient and friendly. The crispy condensed milk bun was especially delicious — perfectly crispy with a lovely texture, topped with condensed milk and a sprinkle of sugar. The only downside is that the tables are placed a little too closely together, which made us very conscious when we chatted, and makes it slightly less comfortable. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
View on GoogleNew favorite for hk themed meals. I tried congee, noodles and milk tea. The congee and noodles takes me back to Hong Kong. All that was missing is the cold air and the drawers underneath the tables. I found it authentic enough. The milk tea was creamier than what your used to in toast box. Maybe that’s the difference with hk and sg milk tea. Will definitely come back.
View on GoogleI first encountered them through dabao-ed food a friend brought to our karaoke session, and I was genuinely surprised by the quality. So I brought my partner here before our Singapore Film Festival screening. The experience didn’t disappoint — though I did feel the ordering system could be improved.
View on GoogleWanton Noodle Soup, Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, Chicken Baked Rice, Prawn cheese cheong fun and beef brisket chee cheong fun to share. Noodles Cantonese-style has that “q-q-ness”, the wanton dumpling is done tight with fresh shrimp and minced meat rolled within the skin. The beef brisket pieces over the chee cheong fun is stewed till soft and tender. In any char chan tang, the chilli oil is a must to be served accompanied with the dishes. It is So Good but the company of friends eating here is better!
