🍣 A Relaxing Japanese Lunch at Shinjuku Restaurant Came to Shinjuku Restaurant for lunch and enjoyed a very traditional, no-frills Japanese meal - the kind of place where the focus is simply on fresh ingredients and comforting flavours. We started with a generous sashimi platter, with thick cuts of salmon, tuna and other fresh fish. But the highlight for me was definitely the whole-fish sashimi - beautifully presented and sliced fresh, with a lovely delicate texture. The mentaiko cabbage was simple but surprisingly addictive, with the savoury mentaiko giving the cabbage an extra umami kick. We also had the fried oysters, crispy and golden outside while remaining juicy inside. Another favourite was the grilled fish collar — nicely charred and smoky, yet moist and tender around the bone. Sometimes the simplest grilled fish is the most satisfying! The braised eggplant with shishito peppers was soft, silky and soaked up all that savoury sauce beautifully. We also tried the cold noodles served over ice with dipping sauce, particularly refreshing for lunch, together with a comforting sushi set accompanied by udon and grilled salmon. Overall, nothing overly fancy or complicated - just honest, old-school Japanese comfort food with generous portions. A nice place to sit down, share several dishes and enjoy a leisurely Japanese lunch. 🇯🇵🍣🐟🍺

Located on the ground floor of the mall. Surprised that there was a queue even before the restaurant opened. The space was a bit tight. The tables were quite close due to the constraint in space. The available food and drinks menu were quite a lot. The staff was nice to tell us that certain food would require a longer waiting time. Service was prompt and good. The staff was also quite friendly. Food was alright. The udon was good. The prices were reasonable. I was not able to take photos of all the pages of the whole menu because I was stopped by one the staff. She mentioned that I was only allowed to take photos of the food only- which I wonder why. Overall experience was alright.

Shinjuku located on the ground floor in cuppage plaza. Space is very tight but restaurant is very clean. All the staffs provided very warm service! Foods may be a bit pricey, but all of them taste really good and in my opinion, value for money! Highly recommended and will definitely come again!

Classical japanese restaurant menu options, no fancy reimagining, just bring you back to streets of shinjuku, shibuya and tokyo areas. The karaage with the shoyu set are big chunky pieces so enjoyable. Orange slices are so classic but they taste very good. Executive Lunch set may look small but is surprisingly fulfilling - suggest to share amongst 2 if you’re not a big eater. Overall a go-to place when you just want to have no-frills good japanese set lunches

One of the better more legit places for a no frills Japanese meal. It says a lot when most of the people who dine here are regulars and are Japanese. They have been around for 40yrs, if they weren’t legit, might not have lasted so long. Definitely worth coming if you craze good quality true to Japan kinda meals.
