Family-run homecooked peranakan food at its best. Especially enjoy the assam pedas, fish head curry, sambal kangkong, bittergourd fried with egg, fried chicken (prawn paste) and chicken rendang which nearly brought a tear to my eye as it tasted a lot like my late mother's version that she cooked from scratch. Prices are unbeatable/ pocket friendly. Decor is endearingly frozen in time. Uncle does get cranky when he is busy (he mans the operations all on his own) but is friendly when the buzz dies down and if one is in turn respectful. This is type of place I would typically gatekeep but they r so deserving of praise n publicity. I hope they never change!

First of all, a very important reminder: please call the restaurant directly to make a reservation. Uncle does not receive online reservations, so calling is the best way to secure your table. This is truly a hidden gem. The restaurant is small and cosy, but everything is very well organised. The owner personally takes care of every table and makes sure all guests are well looked after. The food is even more impressive — authentic, flavourful and consistently delicious. My family and I come here almost every week. Our must-order dishes are Ngoh Hiang, sambal prawns and fish. When we have a bigger appetite, we also add a soup. Every visit ends with us leaving happily with a very satisfying meal. The prices are also very reasonable, around $20 per person, which makes the experience even better. Great food, warm service and a very homely atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Food is consistently good here ! I love their Asam fish, soft & fluffy omelette and honey lemon 🍯🍋 Do note that they have an afternoon break so do check their operating time before heading down.

Value for money Peranakan food. Authentic tasting, well cooked. I love the food here! The gravy is always well cooked and thick. I have been here a few times and the food has been consistently above par. The menu selection is wide with prices clearly labeled. There is only server/waiter serving the entire restaurant, so service may not be so prompt, but he is trying his best. Highly recommended! Thumbs up!

Waiter was patient and nice. Other reviews have mentioned him advising customers against ordering fried rice , which also took Place when I went, but his rationale was understandable as fried rice (oily and salty) don’t pair well with their peranakan dishes. White rice was served from a basket. The broth of the Babi pongteh has a light and homely flavor, meat was tender. Buah keluak nuts were still in the shell and had an earthy taste and meaty texture. Tamarind based sauce was flavored with various spices.
