Restaurant had an air-conditioned interior and there’s many large round tables. Good for family meals. Especially loved their coffee pork ribs, Har Cheong gai and cod fish! Cod fish was $50++ but really very fresh and melt in your mouth. Everyone was raving about the cod fish. Special mention that they have orh nee (yam paste)- this is quite a rare treat in SG already! My family left the restaurant satisfied and happy. Note that the construction is still ongoing outside the restaurant so it can be a bit troublesome to find parking. It’s a lot easier to get there via Novena mrt (~10 min slow walk).

Hong Kong Street” is a familiar name across Singapore, inspired by a legendary original restaurant & generations of apprentice chefs who went on to open their own shops. Tonight, we had our early Father’s Day & Dragon Boat Festival dinner at Hong Kong Street Restaurant@Novena. We ordered the prawn minced meat rolls/虾枣, prawn paste chicken wings/虾酱鸡, Fu Rong omelette/芙蓉蛋, garlic kang kong, & lemon chicken/柠檬鸡. The beancurd skin of the prawn minced meat rolls was fried to a beautiful golden brown, delivering a light & crispy crunch. Inside, the filling was generously packed with minced pork & prawn meat, combining savoury flavours with natural sweetness. Bits of water chestnut added a pleasant crunch & extra texture. The prawn paste chicken wings had a crispy & light coating, while the meat inside remained juicy & tender. The prawn paste flavour was fragrant & savoury without being overly salty. The lemon chicken cutlets were fried well & stayed crispy despite being coated in sauce. The lemon sauce was sweet & tangy, while the chicken underneath remained tender & nice to eat. The rest of the dishes were decent & comforting. Overall, it’s a neighbourhood zi char spot for family dinners & group gatherings 👍🏻 🍽️

Here’s a detailed review you can adapt for a Chinese family restaurant: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Chinese Family Restaurant Experience Visited this Chinese family restaurant recently and had a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and perfect for family gatherings. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable throughout the meal. The food was the highlight of the visit. Every dish was freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and served promptly. The signature dishes were flavorful and authentic, with generous portions suitable for sharing among family and friends. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was appealing. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, with a cozy environment that made the meal even more enjoyable. Prices were reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes offered. Overall, this is a great place for family dinners, celebrations, or casual gatherings. Delicious food, excellent service, and a pleasant atmosphere make it a restaurant I would happily return to and recommend to others.

Thought the food here was very legit - everything that we ordered here, I didn’t not like any actually. Assam fish head curry, hor fun, salted egg squid, kangkong, coffee pork ribs, cereal prawn, fried youtiao, their red bean dessert. The Assam fish head was the best. Staff were all super friendly and nice, and this place is pet friendly (outdoors) ! Park at the right compound itself so you can potentially get a coupon. I was silly and parked next at the next building which was very expensive :( will be back!

We have been to Hong Kong street,HKS, many times. This time round we wanted to celebrate a friend's move from the retail industry to teach in a special needs school. HKS is a nice cosy traditional Chinese Zhi Char style restaurant, if you like this style of Chinese food and wanted an A/C setting without paying an arm and a leg HKS is my recommendation. The prawn 🦐 paste chicken wings are outstanding! Must have! The Yang Zhou fried rice 🍚 has the wok treatment and goes nicely with any dishes. The place is a touch squeezy as the owner placed too many tables to optimize revenue. Staffs are friendly but you have to break the ice to joke with them as I usually do. You will then receive slightly better service imo. 😆 Whether you need a place for weekend family dinner or a memorable dinner to celebrate a special occasion I will recommend HKS. Good food + company = HKS
