My recent visit to Han’s Cafe at Velocity @ Novena Square was, unfortunately, a rather lacklustre experience. While I had high hopes for a comforting meal, the execution fell short on several fronts. The primary issue began with the ordering process. I requested an aglio olio mushroom, yet was served an aglio olio crispy instead. A word of caution to fellow diners: do scrutinise the menu closely and confirm your order at the register, as the descriptions on the point-of-sale system are frustratingly truncated, leading to ambiguity. Regarding the meal itself, the pasta was disappointingly heavy and oily, lacking the delicate balance and depth of flavour one expects from a well-prepared aglio olio. It felt poorly constructed, missing the necessary aromatic lift to elevate the dish. On a brighter note, the refreshments were a welcome contrast to the main course. I sampled both the iced barley drink and the iced honey plum limau. While the flavours were pleasant, both were significantly watered-down, suggesting a lack of care in their preparation. The highlight was undoubtedly the pandan-flavoured Tau Shar puff. The pastry had a lovely, authentic quality, though the price point feels rather steep for the portion provided. Overall, given the confusion at the ordering stage and the inconsistencies in both the main dish and the beverages, I found it difficult to justify the visit. I hope to see improvements in the kitchen's attention to detail and consistency.

🍏 Apple Crumble eaten hot is really nice. So is Tuna Puff heated up warm serve on the plate. Unfortunately I came 10 minutes near to 10pm closing time, so the counter staff put my Tuna Puff upside down 😲 after heating it and I have to request Apple Crumble to be heated because she's rushing to do closing 😨. I had to rush eating the delicious food quickly because the shop is shutting down in 10 minutes. So, to have a better dining experience, it's best to come latest 9.30pm to find a good seat without most of the tables that are wiped down being turned with legs up to indicate shop closure, even 10 minutes before closing. Because the whole shop atmosphere is gearing towards shutting down and nobody wants to stay any longer and has proceed to scurry away quickly 🌰🐿. I finish at 10.04pm, last customer for the day✌🏻. The cleaning staff is helpful to collect my tray, plates and utensils back 🫶🏻. What a rushed delicious warm quick bite I have at Han's. But you just got to come early to have a fuller nicer dining atmosphere without the haste. Both are really nice eaten warm, Apple Crumble and Tuna Puff. If not, can try Chinatown Point Han's. That side got Quiche also very nice. 🙂🍎

Very sad at drop in food quality as we have been HANS REGULAR FOR all their branches. Sadly the signature fish and chips is not good anymore . More a long version “fish nugget “ size as merely the equivalent size of 2 slices of lemon . Overall taste is ok and the renovation is nice but still wish they could spend more time on the food quality and their food supplies as standard of each branch is different. The recent visit to their spring leaf branch and Chinatown branch was great as portions and taste were familiar and reasonable . Don’t get me wrong , the service folks at Novena are fantastic but they are let down by the quality of their food supplies perhaps. Hopefully things improved as going to Hans for lunch after Novena church was a good experience for us . Hopefully the humble Hans serving good food will be back soon .

The soup is tasteless, so bland that even after adding light soy sauce, green chilli and pepper by myself, it is still inedile. Feedback to the cook and requested to change another item, they offered to cook same item for me. I rejected. Did not eat and left. So disappointing. Waste of money too.

My wife and I were here today (17 DECEMBER 2025) for an early lunch. We are both regular customers of Han's, because of its very good and reasonably priced Hainanese Western Colonial cuisine. We ordered the following here today: a Breakfast Set with Bacon and Teh Si for my wife, and a Beef Super Burger with Egg and a Coke Zero for me. Both meals were as always very good and generously portioned for their prices. Service at this Han's outlet, here at Velocity @ Novena Square was very good - friendly, courteous and helpful. And the dining ambience here was very good - with the dining tables spaciously separated and in air-conditioned comfort.
