The Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee at Whampoa Drive Food Centre serves a legendary, classic wet-style plate that consistently draws a snaking queue. The dish features a perfectly balanced mix of yellow egg noodles and thick rice vermicelli that heavily absorbs the rich, umami-laden seafood broth, giving every bite a glossy and deeply savory finish. Cooked with plenty of garlic and tossed alongside fresh prawns and squid, it boasts an old-school flavour profile, though the level of wok hei (breath of the wok) can occasionally be quite subtle depending on who is frying. What truly ties the dish together is its formidably spicy sambal chili paired with a heavy dose of fresh cut red and green chilies, which, when cut through with a sharp squeeze of fresh calamansi lime, provides an intense kick that balances out the richness.

Still legendary after a decade! 🍜 I hadn't been back here in almost 10 years, and I’m thrilled to report it tastes exactly as good as I remembered. If you’re a first-timer, don’t be alarmed by the "staircase ritual" - the Auntie taking orders perched on her 3-step throne is just part of the local charm! The Food • The Style: This is definitely the "wet" version of Hokkien Mee. It’s incredibly flavorful and packed with a distinct wok hey that hits the spot. • The Ingredients: Generous portions of squid and prawns. • The Beansprout Saga: I asked for "no sprouts," and the Auntie told me it’s not possible. However, they were cooked so perfectly that they were almost "invisible" in texture and taste. Even if you’re a hater, you might actually enjoy these. • The Chilli: It’s got a kick! I usually prefer a sweeter, milder sambal, but this was still very high quality and complemented the noodles well. Pro-Tips • Pork Lard: You have to verbally request these. Sadly, they had run out by the time I ordered, so get there early if you want that extra crunch! • Late Night Cravings: They are open until 11:30 PM, making this one of the best value-for-money spots for a late-night dinner. Verdict: Consistent, nostalgic, and delicious. Definitely a must-visit for Hokkien Mee fans.

Very popular by the length of the queue. Efficient order taking, cooking and serving process. The price ordering range is quite wide and we recommend going for $8 as a minimum for individual serving or 2 pax sharing.

Nice… the first time I had cravings of it, I found out it doesn’t open during my lunch break. Wanted to had it for my dinner before evening class… and the queue was so snakingly long. Managed to get it on my way home before the dinner crowd comes in, ordered a $8 sharing portion to share with my Queen. Reached home and found out the portion wasn’t right. Up doe left right looks like a $5 to me. Was wondering why I get my order before the aunty in front of me. Seems like aunty don’t bother remembering us and hands off the item just to get us going. No service. Taste wise was decent, just not fantastic enough to go through all these drama.

Do not have wok hey but I would say is still quite a good hokkien mee. Dryer kind and flavourful becos of the soup base. 2 small prawns for the $5 portion. Can use cdc. They got Michelin in 2023. Short queue on sun afternoon 2pm.
