You ever had Gui Ling Gao before? Herbal Jelly. Its renowned to be bitter but add a lot of sugar water and you're good to go but what's amazing is the warm version. Even the jelly itself isn't that bitter on its own to begin with which makes it such a good post-dinner, healthy dessert. Old-school that runs back so long my math can't count, the quality is chopped and stamped. Shiok!
View on GoogleWe came for the desserts. They have other types including chilled papaya, mango milk. We didn't try their specialty herbal jelly. Too old school rates for us but the desserts we had were terrific. Fast, efficient service. Good place to come for light dessert
View on GoogleA historical, traditional herbal tea shop with delicacies, décor and vibes just like in Hong Kong is such a rare find these days. Without hesitation, I order the chilled Original Hong Kong Kwai Leng Guo 龜苓膏 for takeout. I'm given a Loyalty Stamp Card with a stamp for 1st visit/purchase. The shiny, deep-brown Herbal Tortoise Jelly served here is authentic👍👍👏👏😋😋 This cold jiggling jelly is soft, smooth with ideal texture. No need to drench it with much honey or syrup honestly, a lil' drizzle is enough to do the trick - not too sweet with a noticeably mild bitter aftertaste. Pleasant herbal, minty notes make it very refreshing. So delicious and addictive! Its cooling and detoxifying properties are much needed to refresh body and counteract hot summer days; a 'medicinal marvel' and delectable treat I relish! If I weren't in a hurry, I'd love to have a dine-in experience, enjoying my HTJ and soaking in the atmosphere in a leisurely pace. Yep, I'll do just that next time👍👏💪
View on GoogleWe were in the area to buy lights, walked by to eat at the shop beside for dinner and noticed this little shop! After dinner came by to try out and were very surprised to find very authentic tasting gui ling gao herbal jelly! Even dabaoed some to eat the next day. Mango sago was quite nice too, tastes better than outside ones, the milk is even more fragrant, they weren't stingy with the mango and sago too. They were very considerate too gave us extra bowls and spoons to share without us having to request! Overall very pleasant experience and would definitely visit them again if we have chance in the future. Highly recommend to try their desserts!
View on GoogleTraditional Chinese desserts with authentic flavors. The snow frog was a bit too sweet for our liking, while the herbal jelly had a distinct bitterness, balanced by honey served on the side. The mango sago tasted just like those in Hong Kong.
