I had one of the raw fish/ seafood dons. I think it was seasonal and was on discount, U.P. $29 and discounted was $15.70. I was somehat concerned that it wouldn't be fresh and small portions with the big discount. But no such problem - the bowl came with generous thick portions of fresh sashimi. The only problem was the piece of octopus that was mostly skin and no flesh. Too chewy to swallow. I thought they could have left it out. We were waiting to be seated and we're told eventually by the neighbouring eatery server to just walk in. Also we couldn't get the app to work, the server also couldn't and took our orders manually. Ambience was ok and clever - mostly bar stools separated from the kitchen by a rattan screen, from which the foods were passed to us. Great value. Worth a visit! And repeat visit too!

Love its individual seating for privacy and me-time. If you go with family and friends, the blocks in between the seats can be removed. There is a bag hook at the bottom of the table for our bags too. Such a nice gesture! Food was great. Everyone had something that like on the menu.

Personally, I like the decoration and foods presentation. Felt like having meal in Japan. Serving portions are generous, and ingredients were good quality. Service staff did what they can to address customers needs, you can feel it. Just that some how taste just lack some fine touch. Resulted felt pricey, if not for the promotion. Hope they will do better with time.

I had lunch at Ontama Don at Shaw Plaza and was thoroughly impressed by their Kanpachi Chirashi Don set which was on seasonal offer ($15.90). The freshness of the sashimi was evident in every bite, complemented perfectly by the assortment of seafood, tamagoyaki, and seasoned rice. The set also included a comforting miso soup, making it a complete and satisfying meal. At $15.90+, it’s a fantastic value for the quality and variety offered. The ambiance, with its Ichiran-style booth seating and Japanese motifs, added to an enjoyable dining experience for those dining alone or in pairs. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a delightful and affordable Japanese meal in the area!

Not bad! Tried it during their opening promo (30% all Dons), else I think it would be rather pricey. But guess it would be worth the price as there’s a variety of side dishes. Katsu was a bit dry, some of the tendon (carrot and sweet potato) weren’t well cooked through aka raw veg taste. Not a big deal, but just a feedback! Sashimi were fresh — def a plus point!
