• Food The Bak Kut Teh here has a deep flavor that reflects its long history. A standout menu item is the braised small intestines in soy sauce, which is a rare find as many places do not offer this specific dish anymore. The texture and seasoning of the intestines are well-executed. Having visited since 2019, I find that the food quality remains stable and satisfying. • Service & Atmosphere The restaurant has been operated by the same owner for many years, which gives the place a sense of continuity and tradition. The atmosphere is unpretentious and reflects the long-standing nature of the business. Even after several years, the service remains practical and welcoming in a quiet, steady way. • Conclusion This is a reliable spot with a long history in the neighborhood. The presence of the long-time owner and the availability of traditional dishes like braised small intestines make it a unique place to visit. It is a solid choice for those who appreciate a well-maintained local heritage eatery.
View on GoogleA few friends were raving about this Kai Juan BKT, so I got curious and decided to try it. It's tucked inside a super old-school, rustic kopitiam — really brings back those nostalgic vibes. The stall is run by two elderly ladies who were very friendly and warm. And honestly, the food lived up to the hype. Bak kut teh was solid — kidneys were soft and tender, pork trotters nice and flavourful. They even refilled the soup each time without hesitation. Very affordable as well. Cheap n good, I be a regular indeed. All in all, really satisfying meal. Shiok ah! 😋💯
View on GoogleSince I have very limited time in Singapore, Bak Kut Tea is definitely one of the must-eat list. My friend recommended this shop. Ordered a set for both of us. Turns out the food are really good! Very traditional. I will definitely come back again on my next visit to Singapore!
View on GoogleA throwback experience, I have always been wanting to try this Bak Kut Teh ever since my workplace moved to the Balestier area. To be honest, nothing special about the Bak Kut Teh and the price may not be as reasonable as it seemed. The only thing that I enjoyed most is the vintage shop environment - the tiled walls, tables and chairs, metal gates, etc. - hard to find a dining environment in an original shop lot.
View on GoogleAh Hak Bak Kut Teh is truly one of those nostalgic gems that hold their ground through the decades. Nestled inside the rather low-key Kai Juan Eating House, this stall is the only one clearly visible — and with good reason: it has earned its loyal following over the years and continues to serve up hearty, traditional-style BKT that hits all the right spots. 💯 This is one of the oldest bak kut teh stalls in the area, and it shows — in a good way. There’s no fancy branding or gimmicks, just honest, soulful food passed down through generations. I dropped by recently and was reminded why this place has such staying power. Their BKT soup is beautifully balanced — not as intensely peppery as what you’d get at Founder’s, which makes it smooth and easy to drink down to the very last spoonful. It’s comforting, warm, and just the thing you want after a long day or on a rainy morning. 🌧️🍵 I ordered two bowls of pork kidney, and wow — the kidneys were huge, fresh, and expertly cooked. No weird gamey smell or chalky texture. Just tender and rich in flavor, and portion-wise, very generous! 💪🍖 Also had the salted vegetables, which were perfectly done — not too salty, soft yet still holding some bite, and a great pairing to the richness of the soup. The pork intestines were clean, well-prepared, and had that satisfying chew without being rubbery. 🐷✨ Now, my only (very small) gripe is about the meat on the ribs — while it’s juicy and well-marinated, it doesn’t fall off the bone as easily compared to places like Ng Ah Sio or Old Street. You’ll need to work a little harder to get every bit of meat, but the flavor makes it worthwhile. The atmosphere here is old-school kopitiam — no frills, casual, and filled with regulars who know what they’re here for. Service is quick, efficient, and friendly. Prices are fair for the portion sizes and quality you’re getting. 💸✅ If you're looking for an authentic, down-to-earth bak kut teh experience in Singapore that hasn’t gone overly commercialized, Ah Hak is the real deal. Whether you're a long-time BKT fan or just want to explore a lesser-known spot with solid offerings, this place deserves a visit. I'll definitely be back — especially for the kidneys! 🫀💯
