I really enjoyed their sliced fish and meatball soup with rice. Had the $7 portion and $0.50 for rice. It came with 4 meatballs and thick slices of fresh fish. The broth isn't super flavorful but the enjoyment came from the fresh fish slices and tender meatballs. I would come back for another bowl soon! 8/10

Wow, the Teochew-style Sliced Fish & Meatball Soup (S$10) here is legit divine! Yummy👍👍👏👏😋😋 A goog bowl of batang and/or handmade meatball soup isn't too easy to get nowadays. Thankfully we find it here and Hoover Fish Porridge has aced our faves! Absolutely love the fresh, thick cut batang (Spanish Mackerel) - flesh is firm, meaty with natural sweetness and tender texture. Handcrafted meatballs are top-notch! Balanced fish paste to minced pork ratio and juicy, bursting with authentic teoswa flavor! Clean, clear soup is tasty and full-bodied with sweetness from the fish and veggie mix. Good to be enjoyed with plain rice and won't get thirsty after drinking it👍👍👏👏😋😋 We arrive at the food center about 3.30pm on a weekday. HFP consistently has a queue throughout the 1-hour stay. Our first try at this hawker stall but certainly won't be the last! Soup’s so deliciously good that we bring home a second helping of Meatball Soup (S$10)👍👍👏👏😋😋 Very satisfying indeed!

26/May/2026 Had sliced fish meatball soup ($7) for lunch, was quite good. They served quite a few options on the menu, I'll be back for more.

$6 fish soup portion here, plus $0.50 for a bowl of rice. Not much fish slices tbh, but this fish soup falls under my comfort food category. I can confidently return each time knowing their simple flavours warms my heart. Very fresh batang fish used here, which one can tell from the texture and its hint of natural sweetness. Lightly brined by the chef, the fish slices don't really need any sauce accompaniment. Quantity of fish slices for a $6 portion though... Rationing needed when consuming with a bowl of rice. Soup was clear with clean flavours, slightly bland but most importantly, does not leave me thirsty after polishing the entire bowl.

Queue moved rather quickly so didn’t have to wait long. The fish was sliced thick and fresh. Meatballs were handmade and well seasoned. Soup was rich with little or no msg since I wasn’t thirsty after. Service was well mannered and systematic
