Very bad experience here. Food was quite decent, ambience was also OK, but service was the worst I've experienced in a long time. Not a smile on any staff's face, basically felt like they were reluctant to do anything out of the ordinary. When I first arrived, I waved for a staff at the bar for his help. He just turned to look at me for a few seconds, as if contemplating if he should ignore me, before coming over. Another staff was also very curt when explaining stuff to us, e.g. that the kid's meals don't come with any drink. We came with many young children, and at one point in time many of them went to the bathroom together, and they somehow thought they were running amok, and told us to stop them from running around - they were not, they just went out to the bathroom. We were also celebrating a birthday, and asked for a lighter for the birthday cake candles. They adamantly and repeatedly said they don't have one. Which kitchen doesn't have a lighter to start a fire on the stove? Won't be coming here again.
View on Google⭐ 1/5 — Terrible service, terrible food. Never again. Came to Collins at around 8:30pm with 2 friends and our 2 dogs. There were SO many empty tables when we arrived. We chose a slightly bigger 4-pax table because it was more spacious for the 3 of us + our dogs, and more importantly, it was where the fan was blowing. The weather was already extremely hot and humid. A server came over, told us we could sit there, handed us the menus, and we happily settled down and started ordering. After we finished ordering, another server — WEARING SPECS AND EARSTUDS (I DIDN’T GET HIS NAME) — suddenly came over and told us we were not allowed to sit there and that ALL of us had to shift to another table further outside, closer to the aisle. Firstly, the table he moved us to was obviously meant for 2 pax. It was ridiculously small for 3 adults, and his solution was simply to pull over another chair. Secondly, there was ZERO fan blowing towards that table. We ended up sweating like crazy throughout the meal in the hot and humid weather. Despite all this, we didn’t make a fuss or argue. We just shifted and continued with our dinner. And then came the food. Honestly, it somehow made the experience even worse. The laksa spaghetti was practically tasteless. Nissin laksa cup noodles have more flavour. My chicken chop was under-seasoned, while the so-called A5 Wagyu cubes were so badly charred and overcooked that all I could taste was burnt meat. My friend ordered the roast pork, and even kopitiam sio bak tastes better. Barely any seasoning or flavour — just a plate of fried pork belly. The ONLY saving grace was the Brussels sprouts, which were actually nice. And to the SERVER WEARING SPECS AND EARSTUDS: if you have no patience for customers, perhaps service isn’t the right line of work for you. We weren’t dining there for free, and we certainly didn’t deserve to be treated this way just because we brought our furkids along. If the food had been bad but the service was decent, I probably wouldn’t even be writing this review. But terrible food combined with the way we were treated made the entire experience unacceptable. The service was truly the arrow to the knee. Even if there were no other restaurants within a 5km radius, I still wouldn’t come back. 1 star. The Brussels sprouts can have that star.
View on GoogleHave not experienced such service levels for a long time. Soup arrive at room temperature. They just warmed it up in the oven again and served it. Service was very hurried with food arriving fast and furious on the table that was too small for all the food we ordered. The serving staff refused to engage in English, speaking Mandarin all the time. When we asked for some smaller plates to share the pasta, we were told that they ran out of plates and told us to place our pasta on the the heavy, square wooden ware instead! The experience at the Shaw Plaza outlet left a very bad taste in our mouths. Never to return to Collins again!
View on GoogleOverall, the food and dining experience were good. However, the service provided by the two managers was extremely disappointing. Manager A was the first to attend to us. He showed us to our table but did not provide any instructions on how to place our order. He did not mention that ordering was done via QR code, nor did he point out where the QR code was located. He simply seated us and walked away. After spending some time looking through the menu, we were unsure how to order and asked for assistance. Manager B came over, but instead of offering help, his response made us feel uncomfortable. Upon hearing that we wanted to place our order, he pointed at the QR code and said, “The QR code is here. Scan this to place your order.” I politely asked if he could help us place the order instead. Rather than addressing my question, he simply repeated, “Scan the QR code,” and walked away. What made the situation even more disappointing was that about 15–20 minutes later, another couple was seated, and I witnessed Manager A taking their order directly using a tablet. This raises the question of consistency in customer service. At the time we were trying to order, the restaurant was not busy, so it is difficult to understand why assistance was unavailable to us but was provided to another table shortly afterwards. I hope Collins can clarify whether this reflects its standard service practice, as the difference in treatment left us feeling disappointed and questioning the consistency of the customer experience.
View on GoogleIf you’re not expecting much in terms of service, this is a decent spot for a quick meal in the neighborhood. Food: • The Margherita Pizza was good—my son really enjoyed it. • The Grilled Squid Tentacles were tasty too. • The Angus steak, unfortunately, was overcooked (well-done instead of medium-well). Flavor was average and, while the price is on the cheaper side, you can find better steaks elsewhere for the same cost. • The Roast Chicken with fries tasted like it had been made with frozen chicken rather than fresh. Service: This was the disappointing part. We were seated by someone who seemed to be the manager, but he simply dropped the menus on the table and walked away. After five minutes, he returned with cutlery and asked, “You order already or not?” When the food arrived, each dish was just placed on the table without a word. The squid came first, followed by the mushroom soups (again, no check on who ordered them), and finally the steak, which was set in front of me and left at that. Overall, the service felt careless and unwelcoming. We were two adults and one child, and our bill came to about $90. For that price, I think both the service and food quality could be much better.
