My son tried the unagi set before and highly recommended it to us—and he was absolutely right. The unagi was delicious and perfectly prepared. Special thanks to Yen for the thoughtful and attentive service. As the lift was under maintenance, Yen made a special effort to assist us from the lift area to the restaurant, which was especially appreciated by our 90 years old grandma. Excellent food and outstanding service—highly recommended!

This is my 2nd time visit. It's a good unagi restaurant! On par with the quality and taste that I had in Japan! Staff are very attentive and polite. During the time I visit is around 8pm+, no queue, plenty of seat available. Food serve are very fast too! Definitely one of the best grilled unagi restaurant in Singapore!

Had a wonderful dinner with my team mates at UYA, a Japanese Unagi specialty restaurant at Wheelock Place. The restaurant offers farm-to-table authentic Kansai-style live eel cuisine, grilled over traditional binchotan charcoal. Signature Hitsumabushi Hitsumabushi is a specialty dish from Nagoya, consisting of steamed Japanese rice, barbecue grilled eel fillet, assorted condiments and garnishes served in a wooden bowl called Ohitsu. Glazed with a savoury-sweet secret sauce, the perfectly grilled eel is melt-in-mouth tender and flavourful with a slightly crispy exterior. There are three ways to enjoy Hitsumabushi. You can enjoy as it is, with the condiments provided, or make ochazuke with the dashi broth. As the eels are prepared fresh, the taste is very clean without a fishy or muddy aftertaste. I like the taste of the secret sauce as well. It is not too sweet or overpowering, which perfectly complemented the natural flavour of the Unagi. This is definitely one of the best Hitsumabushi I had so far. Every bite is a feast for the taste buds! Sashimi Moriawase (Premium) A plate of the freshest and most premium fish, sliced with care to the right thickness. So delicious! Salmon Skin Salad A simple salad of mixed greens and vegetables topped with crispy salmon skin and dressed with creamy sesame sauce. The salmon skin is delightfully crispy without being greasy, and the portion size is so generous! Prawn Tempura I believe there is so such thing as bad prawn tempura. But the thing is, there is definitely good prawn tempura. The prawn tempura at UYA are not bad, but they are not the best. I have tasted better ones at a specialty tempura restaurant. Assorted Vegetable Tempura Just like the prawn tempura, this is not the best as well. Sanzen Junmai Daiginjo Omachi Cultivated in Okayama. Subtly sweet taste with a hint of bitterness. Black Sesame Ice Cream Nutty and creamy, but I find it a little too sweet for my palate.

The best unagi meal we’ve had in ages! Felt like we were in Japan. Love the unagi as the bones were hardly discernible. Clearly from Japan. Substantial meal. Lovely cold and refreshing salad. And the desserts were yummy too!

This establishment is a notable destination for those who appreciate high-quality eel dishes. One of the most prominent features of the restaurant is the service; the staff are clearly well-trained, attentive, and maintain a professional demeanor even during peak hours. The menu focuses on traditional preparation methods that highlight the natural flavor and texture of the eel, making it a highly recommended spot for enthusiasts of this specific cuisine. The restaurant is consistently crowded, reflecting its popularity among both locals and visitors. Due to the high volume of patrons, the atmosphere is energetic but can feel quite busy. To ensure a table and avoid a long wait, making a reservation in advance is essential. The pricing is consistent with the quality of the ingredients and the level of service provided. It serves as an excellent choice for a meal where consistent quality is expected. Logistical planning with a prior booking significantly enhances the experience at this sought-after location.
