Satisfied with a pleasant grilled fish lunch at Nakajima Suisan. Do note that you’ll need to order and pay at the counter first before joining the queue. The fish is consistently fresh and well-prepared, making it a reliable choice. Their miso soup tastes authentic, and the side salad comes with a nicely balanced dressing. Green tea served is also very good. Be prepared to queue, as the place is usually busy. Service is efficient and prompt, though not particularly warm and smiling face .
View on GoogleDecent grilled fish spot, though we didn’t find anything that attracts us to return again. ⏰ the wait was apparently over an hour on a Friday slightly past 1pm, which was quite crazy though we do have to contest with tourists and not just office crowd - we did return at 430pm and was seated immediately 🐟 the cod was fresh and of an expected portion, I wasn’t glad when I see that it was deboned though. The teriyaki variant also was my preferred one over the ship variant. The salad and green tea also were a good touch for the set meal. Not the best of experience in general, though the food was still decent if you could come at an off peak hour.
View on GoogleWe had been wanting to try this place for quite some time, but the notoriously long queues always made us think twice. After finally giving it a go, we could see why it’s so popular. The fish portions were generous and offered excellent value for money. More importantly, the fish was grilled to perfection—fresh, flavourful, and cooked just right. Each set came complete with rice, vegetables, and soup, making it a satisfying and well-balanced meal. Considering that fish dishes are usually on the pricier side, the prices here are very reasonable. The only downside is the waiting time, which can easily stretch to 30–45 minutes or more during peak periods. That said, if you don’t mind the queue, this place is definitely worth trying.
View on Google4.5/5 There’s always a really long queue, especially during peak dining hours. The quality of the fish is excellent, fresher than what you get at many restaurants. The mero saikyoyaki was divine, it was buttery, tender, smooth, and fresh, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Paired with the marinade, it was incredibly delicious. The teriyaki squid was fresh and flavourful, though a little tough and not as tender as it could be. The kinmedai saikyoyaki was also good, it was flaky and tasty, but I still preferred the grilled mero. The setup is more like a basic food court, so it can get quite noisy. Despite that, prices are very reasonable, given the quality and taste.
View on GoogleI ordered the grilled toothfish and black cod set with oden. The meal was delicious and the fish was really fresh. I loved how buttery the toothfish was rich and chock-full of fish oil. The green tea is refillable and very aromatic. The queue can get really long during peak hours, so I went early this time to avoid the wait. The oden portion is generous and can be shared. The air conditioning was a bit warm, but everything else was great. I’ll definitely be back
