stumbled upon this affordable omakase place in Orchard and honestly, $38++ for a full omakase set sounded abit too good to be true HAHAH. but the cosy izakaya-style ambience rly brought me back to Japan and for the price, i was quite impressed by the variety served. we got the Classic Set ($38++) and Signature Set ($58++). the restaurant was PACKED even on a monday evening, so definitely make a reservation before heading down. service was also rly nice, the staff patiently explained each course to us which made the whole experience more enjoyable. food-wise, i honestly think the Classic Set was the better value-for-money option. the appetisers were already quite strong, and the assorted sushi had good variety even though the Signature Set had slightly more premium cuts. the sashimi from the Signature Set was super fresh and melted in my mouth, and i also rly liked the shiro maguro carpaccio from the Classic Set. some dishes like the lobster and prawn with mentaiko sauce were not my favourite texture-wise, but the mentaiko sauce helped a lot. the beef tenderloin was juicy, the clams with garlic butter were simple but sooo good, and both chawanmushi were smooth and comforting. overall, a pretty enjoyable affordable omakase experience in Orchard. i’d personally go for the Classic Set at $38++ because the price difference between the Classic and Signature didn’t feel that huge in terms of overall quality. would return if i’m craving a casual Japanese omakase that doesn’t break the bank.
View on Google⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had the S$58+ omakase set and it was a great value for the quality and variety offered. Every course was thoughtfully prepared, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The sushi was well-balanced, and each dish was beautifully presented. The pace of the meal was just right, allowing us to enjoy every course without feeling rushed. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the dishes. Overall, it was an enjoyable omakase experience with excellent value for money. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced omakase with fresh ingredients and great service, Hana Japanese Restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
View on GoogleThe presentation of the food was beautiful but with all omakase meals the taste can be a bit more of a hit or miss. I really liked the truffle noodle appetiser and the white fish sashimi. The clam dish was also really good and full of flavour, with a generous serving of clams. The sushi course itself was fine. The fish was fresh but there was one item that was surprisingly sweet, with sugar crystals sprinkled on top. I don't think I enjoy my sushi sweet that much hahaha. The later courses weren't that much to my taste either, like the croquette which was good but came already covered in sauce which was way too sweet and sour for me, the steamed egg custard (didn't have good structural integrity and broke up into tiny pieces, forgettable flavour profile), and the salmon rice in soup (not sure why this would be the last course bc it was quite mid overall). Dessert was pretty appalling, tasted like straight up butter, and I expected better sweets from a japanese restaurant. To sum up, good value for 38++, and the waitress who helped us didn't try to upsell after we declined to upgrade the first time. I just wish the pace of the meal was slower in that different staff members kept trying to clear the plates before we were done. Reading the reviews maybe it's better to come to try the non-omakase dishes. Also, the drinks have to be improved on imo... bland tasting with no discernable alcohol taste😭
View on GoogleHad a wonderful experience at Hana in Forum Shopping Mall. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Every dish was well-prepared, and the ingredients tasted high quality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The restaurant had a pleasant and cosy atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience, and I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleThis is our second visit to Hana Restaurant, and it definitely won’t be our last. From the outside, it looks like a simple neighborhood restaurant, but the food is truly outstanding. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, the portions are generous, and every dish is beautifully presented. It’s a great place for family meals, gatherings with friends, or special occasions. We especially loved the Unagi Don (eel rice bowl). It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and absolutely worth trying. Overall, excellent food, great value for money, and a restaurant we would highly recommend. A must-try!
