Is the quintessence of the Cuisine Bourgeoise (Bourgeois Cuisine), plates must be generous and slow cooking is a priority.

4.8 Le Bistro du Sommelier has been plying their trade in Singapore for nearly 20 years and they know what they excel in and they do it so well. The duck rillete is always a must as is the cote de bouef with the gratin potatoes. The duck is so well done and the steak is wonderfully fat with an excellent char. The decor is simple and centered on French wine regions. The service is polite and efficient. A must try if you like steak done properly and simply.
View on GoogleA satisfying French restaurant experience with well-executed classics. The steak was cooked to a good medium with a rich, buttery finish, complemented nicely by crispy, well-seasoned fries. The foie gras stood out—silky and indulgent, balanced with a slightly sweet fruit reduction and toasted almonds for texture. The burger was hearty and flavorful, with a juicy patty and a soft, buttery bun, again paired with consistently good fries. Overall, the food delivers on quality and comfort. A reliable spot for classic French fare in a relaxed setting. We also met the friendly lady boss and had a good chat. Highly recommended.

View on GoogleLe Bistrot du Sommelier on Armenian Street next to the Peranakan Museum offers authentic, rustic French fare with an extensive wine list. We love the Duck Foie Gras Terrine for its smooth, rich, and decadent, served alongside sweet, crunchy brioche bread. The L'Entrecôte Ribeye Black Angus is a massive, thick-cut ribeye showcasing a hard sear on the outside while remaining incredibly juicy in the middle. It is famously finished with a decadent, rich brandy cream sauce or white peppercorn sauce. The Côte de Bœuf Angus Rôtie au Four is another great steak 🥩 option with its enormous bone-in prime rib eye designed to feed 2 to 3 people. It is oven-roasted, sliced, served medium-rare, and heavily accompanied by roasted shallots, garlic confit, and two side dishes. Of course, do not miss the Profiteroles, classic French choux pastry filled with ice cream and drizzled with rich chocolate sauce.
View on GoogleOverpriced and below average French cuisine. Vegetable soup was tasteless and the chicken was overcooked and dry to the point of being inedible. Even the bread and butter (which I had to request for) were not served hot and tasted stale, which is quite telling about their standards. Only the dessert was acceptable (but maybe because I lowered my expectations significantly.) If you want authentic French fare, please spend your money elsewhere!
