Nice cake shop, good spot to spend ~1 hour chatting / reading over good cake, nice drink while looking out the nostalgic street of Joo Chiat. I have been so desperately looking for a decent dessert shop where I can sit down and enjoy my own quality time with a "proper" cake which is fresh, fluffy and not overly sweet. I finally found what I've been yearning at Olsen Bakehouse! Fluffy cake, yummy cream, comfortable seating, nice decor. They offer very interesting cake flavours such as kopi, pandan, orn neeh. The butter cream works well for me, I suppose it's a style of local cakes. Overall very happy to find this cake shop and truly enjoyed my time here. Definitely would come back for more good cake good time!
View on GoogleWe ordered an ondeh ondeh birthday cake from olsen bakehouse. The pandan chiffon was light and airy, cream flavours were well balanced. We really liked the gula melaka layers, not too in-your-face and it complemented the pandan chiffon so well. The outer layer of cream had a hint of roast aftertaste to it, we couldnt really put our finger to it but we found that a really nice touch. Wonderful service and the delivery was smooth and efficient. We will surely be back again to try the other cake flavours.
View on GoogleGirlfriend ordered cakes for my fortieth. Sesame Yuzu cake and Orh Nee cake, cuz of my preference for yuzu and teochee yam concoctions. Sadly got sick, and she had to finish those for me. Well, we had to visit in person next date then, and so we did. Very interesting ideas, run by what looks like a family, and the execution was good as well. Would have liked to try the hot cross buns and the Swedish cardamon rolls. Good vibes, the staff seem to genuinely like each other. Haha just kidding. The baker and his wife even had this happily married photo where he appeared to be 'choking' her with an arm bar, and she didn't seem to know if to clutch the arm to prevent herself from losing consciousness, or to cry in laughter. Couple goals? 😂 Maybe.
View on GoogleChill cafe with welcoming and inviting vibes. The cafe is set up with cosy seats and spaces, including a little quaint library of books from the owners' selection. They are a generous bunch as it is hard to find places that invite you to stay and enjoy slow time there. Kids friendly too with babycino on the house for little customers. 很有人情味! They have unique selection of cakes and serve drinks with Oatside Milk too. We loved their mini cookies and bought one back to share with others. Highly recommend and would love to return again with friends and family.
View on GoogleDelicious cakes with local delights like ondeh ondeh, orh nee, peanut butter, sesame yuzu. Limited seatings and crowded most of the times that I visited for takeaways. Service Staff were friendly and patience needed for them to serve you as they take time to make beverages, take orders, pack and collect payment when shop gets crowded. Highly recommended if around this area to try out their bakery in local flavours ♪(*^^)o∀*∀o(^^*)♪
