Just found out this bookstore when wandering Joo Chiat Rd. Such a hidden gem in the midst of Singapore 💎. Very cozy, Ghibli vibe, mostly Chinese books but still have decent amount of English titles. The shop owner is super nice, warm, give me peaceful feeling when I relax at the store. Added as my go-to spot whenever visit Singapore. (Also her son’s artwork is very cute and talented 😇)

City Book Room offers an impressive range of Chinese titles in literature, history and philosophy, complemented by carefully chosen English works. Guided by the owner’s ethos of treating books as spiritual nourishment and resisting commercial trends, the space reflects a commitment to independent publishing and thoughtful curation. Nestled within The Modules residential building, you simply buzz the unit number at the lobby and take the lift to Level 3 to discover this cosy, light‑filled room that invites slow browsing and meaningful discovery!

If you're a book lover, then don't miss this place if you're in the area. There are a lot of local publications worth checking out. It is well curated and the dude running it is super friendly. I won't tell you how to find it because I honestly don't remember. But it is literally like going to someone's house, having a look at this book collection and never giving it back. Because you bought the book ofc.

Truly a lil jewel box of books! Owner’s Husband designed the Store Really special - mainly Chinese language but one corner of titles in English (from floor to ceiling) Got a great book on housing authority modernist structures
