Wow I really enjoyed everything we ate here! The yang yuan siu dai was awesome, and I loved the Kaya toast and chicken curry. Vibe was chill even sitting outside. They really made the atmosphere great with all the fans. Well done! I will be back soon for sure !+
View on GoogleThis was worth the almost 30 mins travel time from our hotel just to have breakfast. You can easily spot the cafe as it is located at the corner of the street with a large signage on the wall. We had kaya toast for breakfast on our 6-day trip in Singapore and this was the best among them. The kaya spread is not too sweet and it does not have any preservatives. The service was good too as the staff were accommodating and attentive. I had to buy many bottles of the spread to bring home. We also enjoyed the one with the bacon, love the smokiness and sweetness.
View on GoogleFor drinks, I’d go for the kopi o kosong peng over the teh C kosong peng — the coffee is nicely roasted without that sour note. Would recommend ordering the drinks hot to complete the experience as they are served in old-school cups. For toast, I still lean towards Ya Kun’s style over Chin Mee Chin’s. That said Chin mee chin’s kaya is solid and their eggs are creamy. Personally prefer their kaya spread over peanut butter but good to order both to try. They also offer a range of local mains, along with pastries and desserts. Overall, I’d recommend it if you’re around the Siglap–Joo Chiat area. The space balances vintage nostalgia with modern touches, paired with efficient service and a breezy outdoor seating area cooled by large fans. Come for the vibes.
View on GoogleA very confusing experience both auditory, visually and taste wise. The background music sounded like it came from a "top 10 relaxing piano" YouTube search. The food was the most underwhelming. 1. The soft boiled eggs were overcooked, yolks were semi hard and unsatisfying. 2. The French toast kaya bread was giving the energy of a Chinese tourist in Paris - disoriented and confused. It was slightly sweet from the kaya but also had the egg taste of the French toast portion overwhelming it. There was also a small bit of butter on top which gave it an extra layer of taste but still did not serve to tie the flavours together. 3. The pork chop curry rice was a good test of your mental fortitude. With about 20ml of curry, few slices of pork chop, 70% white rice, you'll find yourself desperately rationing your curry. However, the service was great, it has to be, seeing it is self service and plus, no 10% service charge. Photos are catfish. Looks much better than how they taste for it's price point.
View on GoogleCame down to the east cost just want to sip a cup of hot coffee made by 100+ years old kopi tiam in Singapore. Impressive the store has been sold their authentic bread butter with kaya jam until today, but the atmosphere and feel is no longer exist like before (i saw the old building picture). Yeay pro n cons, but the some things have been existing for 10 decades more should have to maintain the original building, so can feel like in the old times Their kaya jam is nice, but to butter just so so… bread also no that special if u taste it originally without jam. The egg is the special dish serving half-boiled egg, i am egg lovers so i am ok with that, hahahaha, sone people they dipped their bread to the eggs hahahaha. I ordered a set of bread butter kaya with half-boiled egg and coffee at SGD 6.2 😍 Coffee just ok, no additional aroma just a bitter black coffee and milk Overall i can recommend you guys here to taste the old dish back to 100 years Easy to find, jn the east cost road ❤️❤️❤️, staff are very friendly and quick Thanks all
