Amber Beacon Tower is a distinctive yellow spiral tower in East Coast Park, originally built as a navigational beacon. Its bright facade and elevated design make it a unique spot for sea views, standing out against the park’s more typical coastal features. What makes it truly memorable, though, is the dark history tied to it. On May 15, 1990, a young couple was brutally attacked on the tower’s steps — Kelly Tan Ah Hong tragically lost her life, while her boyfriend James Soh Fook Leong survived. The case remains unsolved, and over the years, the tower has gained a reputation as one of Singapore’s most haunted places, with stories of apparitions and eerie sounds giving it a chilling mystique. The lore adds an unexpected layer to what seems like just another park structure. A curious landmark for those interested in urban legends and local history.

Something of a hidden gem. Standing on the beach, and looking out onto the ocean the Amber Beacon is a small landmark along Singapore’s busy coastline. You can climb the steps to the small viewing platform and get some great views of the busy shipping lanes.

🚨The iconic Amber Beacon Tower along East Coast Park Area C is a working lighthouse that is accessible to the public. 🚨The spiral staircase lead up to the observation gallery halfway up the Tower. 🚨But this "yellow lighthouse" had a dark past. In 1990, a young lover couple was brutally knifed. The man survived but unfortunately the girl died. The two assilants were never not caught. Stories about ghostly encounters and haunting screams spread. 🚨Climb up to the observation gallery and enjoy a panoramic view of the seaside, the ships and the nearby Indonesian islands when you are there.

Pretty nice tower, can't see much at night. It's quite well known for being a location of an unsolved murder case and there are reports of "hauntings" around the area. I went there at night but I didn't encounter anything spooky so it's not that scary as people make it out to be 😉
