This chinese steam boat is located very near the coffeeshop that me and my colleagues patronises regularly. We were next door getting coffee and buns when we chanced upon this shop that offers $9.90 lunch value set. So here we are! They have A LOT of soup base to choose from and trust me, the $9.90 lunch set is so massive that I have difficulties finishing it T_T

Place was clean. Service is quick. Can order ala carte (better quality) or take from the skewers on the conveyor belt - mainly frozen meatballs etc. Not worth the price.

Walked in to an empty shop at 3pm, so all the attention was on me. Ordering the soup base was a breeze since all the choices were plastered on the wall. Order the sliced beef at 10 buck a plate. And the lady went to the kitchen and sliced the beef (frozen). Can literally hear the "zing zing" sound from the slicer. But I wouldn't recommend the beef though, tasted like rubber. Everything were kept in the fridge, so the conveyor belt was empty. But once I took the sauces from the sauce counter, I can see the lady take out container after container until the entire conveyor belt is fully stacked of food. Honestly, the food is not that great. So please don't compare them to HDL. But at this price point, you can expect yourself to eat and eat without breaking your wallet. All in all, I paid $61.60 for two. We literary eat a lot. Really a lot. So if you want to have a really full meal, come here. Oh one more thing, the 80s Cantonese songs playing on the background was interesting nice.

The staff were not attentive at all, simply looking at us with annoyance as we stood around waiting for someone to serve us. Despite being the only customers there, they were loudly chatting on the phone, with some even on video calls. When we finally placed our order for meats and a soup base, we were informed that they had run out of rice. It was only 7:30 PM—how can a restaurant run out of rice so early in the evening?

If you find the queue at the HDL in City Sq Mall to be too long, consider walking out to this little gem outside along Jalan Besar. The soup is delicious with everyone having their own bowl. Every stick is only $1! Food is really delicious and affordable.
