Celebrated my birthday at Kozen Sushi Bar & Restaurant with my wife, and it turned out to be such a memorable and special experience. The salmon sashimi was incredibly fresh, thick, and buttery, and the presentation made the moment feel even more meaningful. Every dish we had — from the sushi to the rice bowl — was beautifully prepared, with a great balance of flavours and textures. What made it even more special was sharing this meal with my wife. The atmosphere, the quality of the food, and the consistency in every dish made it a truly enjoyable time together. Even the dishes I didn’t take photos of were just as delicious. You can really tell they take pride in their food and follow strict standards. Overall, it wasn’t just a good meal — it was a lovely experience I’ll remember. Definitely a place worth coming back to ❤️
View on GoogleThe space feels intimate and welcoming, with a menu featuring premium air-flown ingredients and seasonal Japanese dishes. My highlights were the A3 Wagyu Beef Wine Short Ribs, slow-cooked for over 8 hours, incredibly tender and rich in flavour and the Kozen Mini Tasting Platter, which was perfect for sampling their sashimi, tempura, uni, snow crab, dons, unagi and tamago. The Tokujo Nigiri with Torotaku Maki was a treat for sushi lovers, while the Chawanmushi of the day was silky smooth with delicate seafood flavour
View on GoogleDropped by for a meal and here’s my honest take on the food and vibes. The Food:Premium Seasonal Sashimi Platter: Fresh, loads of variety, and actually priced pretty reasonably for 2 pax. Lobster Toro Don: Everything was mixed well, lobster taste good. But didn't give me that "wow" factor. Salmon Aburi Mentaiko & Unagi Don: Both were pretty good! No complaints there. The Vibe & Service: A bit of noisy: The place can gets really loud, so don't expect a quiet dinner. Everyone working there was rushing around busy serving. Took me quite a while just to get chili flakes because the staff were just too busy. Nevertheless, the staff did a good job by giving you a details explanation on their promotion and recommendations when you walk in.
View on GoogleKozhen Sushi Bar is a hidden gem tucked in a cozy shophouse setting. The space is intimate and unpretentious, yet the food is clearly premium, with a focus on air-flown ingredients and refined Japanese flavours. We tried a variety of dishes and were impressed overall. The Tokujo Nigiri with Torotaku Maki stood out, especially with the use of seasonal dry-aged fish, which brought out deeper umami and a noticeably silkier texture. The Kozen Don was indulgent, topped with foie gras, eel, fish, and roe—rich but well-balanced. Other highlights included the Hamburg Don and the Beef Wine Short Ribs, both hearty and flavourful. The Seasonal Chawanmushi was smooth and comforting - the Ankimo (monkfish liver) delivered a rich, buttery depth and the Hotaru Ika (firefly squid) was small but packed with intense umami. Overall, this is a low-key spot that delivers a high-quality dining experience. Definitely worth seeking out if you enjoy premium Japanese cuisine without the overly formal atmosphere.
View on GoogleTried Kozen Sushi Bar & Restaurant and honestly, it’s a really solid find. The place is cosy and chill, great for a relaxed meal. The sushi and sashimi were super fresh, and you can really taste the quality. Loved the dons as well — rich, flavourful, and quite satisfying. Service was friendly, though it can get a bit busy. Overall, great food and nice vibes. Definitely a spot I’d come back to 👍
