Amazing! I highly recommend for an authentic Hong Kong experience without all the stress and chaos. We not only enjoyed delicious dim sum for lunch, but experienced amazing service. They were prompt to bring out the dishes, made sure we received everything we needed, and would provide little info on each dish every time they served it. Kim and the entire staff took very good care of us and we will definitely be coming back more often. Each dish was flavorful and even gave us free mango sago for dessert. Lovely staff, amazing food, calm and comfortable atmosphere. A perfect place for a lovely family lunch. Thank you Kim and staff for a wonderful experience and see you again very soon! :)
View on GoogleTwo vegetarian food spots shut down in the past few months so I was left with few food options. While I was trying to discover more lunch places with vegetarian options, I stopped by Hong Kong Stars Cafe. I was welcomed by the sweet warm lady, Jenny, who told me she would customize their set lunch for a vegetarian (no meat, seafood, egg, onion, garlic, green onion, chive) like me. Delighted to hear that, I eagerly gave it a shot and it didn't disappoint. The set included an entree, a drink and a dessert! My favorite part was the peach gum dessert as they used high quality peach gum and I felt very blessed to have a nutritious jain vegetarian meal at a reasonable price. Milk tea was the authentic HK style which I was satisfied with. My entree was mixed veggies over rice. I'm returning the second time to try the noodles.
View on GoogleFrom the frontage of this Hong Kong Cafe, and number of patrons on a Sunday afternoon, we did not expect they could serve us some impressive dishes like their XO Carrot Cake (Well fried thin crispy outer crust, soft and flavourful inside, served with bean sprouts). We also liked their Braised Homemade Beancurd with Duo Mushrooms And Egg White, Fried Rice With XO Sauce and BBQ Honey Pork Dry Noodle, were all well executed in terms of flavours and textures. But BBQ Honey Pork (Char Siew) could have been better if its more tender and had closer Meat-To-Fat ratio of 50:50. Their Mini Egg Tarts and Deep Fried Shrimp Dumplings were average though, without any distinctive flavours. You cannot claimed to have patronized a Hong Kong Cafe without having a Cup of “Yuenyang” - Tea With Coffee, and what is served here is really mindblowing… Its had good ratio of Tea, Coffee, Milk and Sugar 👍🏻 Their Milk Tea was also as good as their Yuenyang. Overall, if this cafe had better trained service staffs (Order taking, attentiveness and efficiency) and if they had the right sized table and seating arrangements, it will be a must visit Hong Kong Cafe for sure. Anyway, we will return to try out their other dishes soon.
View on GoogleFood is okay, how ever some dish has almost no flavoring (the shark fin soup) and some have all the salt (chicken). Best dish: roast pig. I must say this is the nicest roast pig I've had. Crispy and all the meat is nicely cooked. Chef also cut it without bones so it's totally enjoyable.
View on GoogleThis Hong Kong café at Jalan Besar was surprisingly quiet during a weekday lunch hour, which at first seemed promising for a relaxed meal. However, the experience turned out to be a bit underwhelming. The café offers a selection of dim sum, but disappointingly, several popular items were already sold out even though it was just lunchtime. Staples like shrimp dumplings (har gow) and carrot cake were unavailable, which set the tone for a rather incomplete dim sum experience. Among what was available, the siew mai was very meaty, but the texture didn’t feel quite right—it lacked the usual balance of lean meat and fat that gives the dumpling its signature juicy bite in Hong Kong. The fried dim sum options were passable, but nothing particularly memorable. For mains, I tried the beef hor fun. Unfortunately, the dish fell short—it was rather bland, lacking the rich wok hei (charred aroma) that usually defines this dish. Hoping to enhance the flavor, I asked for chili oil. However, the staff seemed unfamiliar with the type of chili oil commonly served in Hong Kong cafés (chaa chaan teng). What they provided was different, perhaps the staff is from Southeast Asia, which didn’t quite understand the culture. It gave the impression that the café, while styled as “Hong Kong,” may not fully capture the authentic flavors.
