IG: mattnotgloss The place is conveniently located near mrt within a heartland mall. Besides the multistory carpark, one could also secure a parallel lot by the roadside. Food wise, I would say that there were hits and misses. - white curry. This is not your typical pasta, I would describe it as a creamy mushroom soup that emits a faint spice. The flavourful sauce paired well with the sourdough. The other ingredients could be improved. Clams were too small and the two tiger prawns were a little overcooked. - chilled pasta: the thin pasta was appetising and nicely flavoured with the sweet dressing which has a pronounced truffle aroma. - wagyu beef don: they could be more generous with the portion of the meat as well as the cut. I found the thinly sliced beef to be overdone. Rice was nicely prepared. - crabmeat pasta. The penne was cooked to al dente and coated with the palatable tangy sauce. I found the crab meat too finely separated, taking away the texture and its sweetness. - truffle fries were fried to crisp, but the aroma needs to come through more obviously. - kuki or cookie had a delightful texture, the slightly soft and chewy inside is encased within a crunchy exterior. The hazelnut version was overly sweet in my opinion, and my personal favourite would be the pistachio version. The pairing ice cream (matcha, chocolate or vanilla) were too icy, ruining the otherwise nice treat. - the espresso for the coffee was well extracted. The beans were likely medium dark roasted, giving it a nutty smooth profile. Barista was also skilled to draw beautiful latte art, adding a nice finishing touch to the drinks. Service by staff was great. They were friendly and accommodating. Place was bright and kept clean. Overall, this is a nice cafe to visit if you are in the vicinity.
View on GoogleOrdered their Asian Prawn & Clam Chilli pasta ($22), it was generous with ingredients, the seafood were very fresh. The pasta has a twist of Asian aromatics. Cream base but not jelak. Tried Truffle Tamago Salmon Sando with fries ($14.50), taste was good, I love the chunks of tamago inside! Ordered a variety of cakes and tarts to try, especially love their pistachio lava kuki ($10). 👍
View on GoogleSitting under HDB block, simple 12 sitters layout and clean. Smiling servers, online menu & order at cashier counter. Food was tasting good but too peppery. Fresh ingredients used to whip up these dishes. Ren White curry was tasty with fresh seafood used, but peppery. Tasted much like peppery seafood risotto. Crab meat pasta is actually chilli crab pasta, same issue too heavy on the pepper and the salmon roe was off, fishy. Katsu chicken don tasted like sweet stew sauce chicken. While the wagyu beef don was actually soft & tender. Something I would have a second go at. Average $20 per person for a main course. Service was quick, dishes were served quickly and plates were cleared promptly after meal. A jar of plain water is served free of you’re not into their drinks. I wouldn’t go all out to dine there, but if you’re near the vicinity can consider.
View on GoogleAmazing brunches they serve, especially gotta get the scrambled eggs on croissant! Would love to try the wagyu don next time. Rather cosy place, only that we sat too close to the kitchen and smelled like quite a bit of oil. But worth a visit!
View on GoogleA nice and welcome addition to Farrer Park's list of coffee shops. This one is right next to Exit B of the MRT. Spacious, simple decor and bright, it offers a variety of food and beverages with the main focus on coffee and tea. Went in on a Sunday morning with a friend and was welcomed by smiling staff. We ordered two "white coffees," which can be made into a cappuccino, cafe latte, or flat white. We chose the latte and flat white version. Served in large cups, my latte was nicely done with a good taste of coffee. Costing around 6.50/person, including taxes, I would surely recommend this place and plan to revisit to try more off the menu.
