Brawn & Brains is a great spot for a solo brunch. I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon and it was pleasantly not too crowded. The space is bright and spacious with plenty of seating, lots of natural light, and a clean minimalist feel. I had the Signature Oven Baked Molten Eggs ($23) and it was easily one of the best brunch dishes I’ve had. Beautifully plated and generously portioned, with two perfectly runny eggs over a tortilla, topped with melted cheese, avocado, smoked salmon, crispy bacon, salad, and whole-wheat toast on the side. Every component was well executed, and the crispy cheese crust really pulled the whole dish together. Sinful but very satisfying and easily shareable if you’re a lighter eater. The Cappuccino ($6) was solid too, nutty, smooth, and made with a double shot of ristretto. Nice foam finish, and it came with a couple of crunchy biscotti on the side, which was a nice touch.
View on GoogleCame for a solo lunch and there was space for one pax on a Sunday at 1:30pm. Things that were good: portion size was big with good portions of salad, quiet cafe to chill for a while. Things that can be improved: the cappuccino was served in a glass cup which was too hot for me to pick up, had to use the serviette as an intermediary to hold the cup. Perhaps a ceramic cup or a cup with a handle would be better. The meal overall was a bit too greasy for me personally, with the thick cheese, bacon stripes and smoked salmon. The salad and tomatoes barely helped to cut through the oiliness. This dish is more suited for someone with a bigger appetite and can eat quickly before the cheese cools and becomes too hard. The QR code for ordering also wasn't working on the day I visited, perhaps management can take note to make sure that the ordering system is always updated and in order. I can't help but wonder if the 5 stars reviews are because of the $10 return voucher offered at each table, then again they didn't ask for a 5 stars review so I'll give them credit for that.
View on GoogleI’ve been going to B&B for 10 years, and it’s amazing how they’ve maintained such high quality food, coffee, and service all this time 👍 I recently brought my partner’s family there for the first time, and they could immediately tell that everything was made with care and sincerity. The food and coffee were very tasty and well-balanced, not overpowering at all. The portions are generous and definitely worth the price. I’ll definitely return to B&B whenever I’m looking for high-quality food and coffee ☕️
View on GoogleVisited Brains and Brawn at Hamilton Road recently and had a pretty good experience overall. The cold brew was smooth and refreshing, though I did feel it was a little pricey at $11. On the food side, the avocado and chicken sando was really good . Was fresh, well-balanced, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. Nice cafe vibe and a comfortable spot to chill or catch up with friends.
View on GoogleIdk why exactly, but this place is male coded to ridiculous extremes! Don't get me wrong, I liked it. Stuff like giving real portions for the avocado toast, (an entire avocado!) rather than a few measly slices. Even the carrot juice was male coded, I never thought that was possible. And the cakes! Or the salad being an actual meal, rather than the expected portions for ants many cafes serve. Even the kitchen staff chopped vegetables and meat with gusto and a huge gym bro attitude. Someone had immense gains recently. Doesn't know his own strength, good for him though. Bulk on. Would come back again. My queen felt a little weirded out tho. A girl with knee length blond hair, girl coded handbag etc walked in, and I immediately placed her as staff. And I was right! 😂 Some sort of supplier. Liked the place. Us guys need more male spaces for sure, this establishment seems to be consciously supplying it. If conscious, good on them for identifying the space and filling the commercial gap.
