Visited Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple recently and was impressed by how peaceful and beautiful the place is. The temple architecture and Buddha statues are stunning, with many intricate details that make it worth exploring. Even as a visitor, the atmosphere felt very calm and welcoming. The temple is well-maintained, quiet, and a nice place to appreciate the culture, history, and beauty of Buddhist architecture. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Singapore and looking for a serene and unique spot to explore.

Visiting the Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple was not only peaceful, but also deeply meaningful for me and my friend. The moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed by a calm and serene atmosphere, with the beautiful golden Buddha surrounded by countless glowing lights creating a truly spiritual space. The highlight of the temple is its magnificent 15-meter-tall Buddha statue, one of the tallest indoor Buddha statues in Singapore. Surrounded by countless glowing oil lamps, the scene creates a peaceful golden radiance that feels almost surreal. The soft flickering lights and the quiet surroundings instantly bring a sense of calm, making it a perfect place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. What makes this temple even more special is its unique blend of cultures. Founded by a Thai monk, the temple carries strong Thai influences, yet it harmoniously blends with Chinese Buddhist traditions. This cultural fusion gives the temple a distinct identity compared to many others in Singapore. What made the experience even more special was the kindness of the auntie and uncle in charge. They were very warm, patient, and sincere in explaining everything to us. They guided us through the meaning behind the offerings and rituals, making sure we understood each step instead of just going through the motions. Their explanation made the visit feel much more personal and heartfelt. We also made a donation, hoping for a smooth and blessed year ahead. It felt meaningful to be part of something positive, not just for ourselves but also in contributing to the temple. The process was simple, genuine, and not pressured at all, which made it even more comfortable. The entire experience was peaceful, sincere, and full of good energy. It’s not just about visiting a temple, but about feeling guided, welcomed, and spiritually recharged. Definitely a place I would return to again — not only for prayers, but for the warmth and kindness of the people there.

Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple (Chinese: 释迦牟尼菩提迦耶寺) is a Buddhist monastery in Singapore. The temple was originally set up by Venerable Vutthisara of Thailand. The present premises are located at Race Course Road in Singapore. The Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple is one of the most prominent and widely visited Buddhist temples in Singapore,[5] often referred to as the Temple of 1,000 Lights. It features a 15-meter high statue of a seated Buddha, which weighs nearly 300 tons, as well as many smaller Buddha images and murals depicting the life of Gautama Buddha. The large central statue is surrounded by a stylized aura made of numerous light bulbs— often lit with a donation towards the temple(approach the friendly staff to request)—from which the temple derives its nickname. In a small room beneath the altar is an image of a reclining Buddha, Buddha towards the end of his life, under a Yellow Saraka Tree.
