Decided to try Heng Heng Bak Kut Teh and overall it was an average experience. The ingredients were fresh and the pork was tender, which was a plus. Portion size was decent for the price as well. However, the main disappointment was the soup broth. It lacked the depth and punch you’d expect from a good bak kut teh — not peppery or herbal enough, and overall quite mild and underwhelming. Service was okay and the place is fairly comfortable, but nothing particularly stood out. Not a bad meal, but probably not one I’d go out of my way for again.
View on GoogleMy family and I have been visiting this bak kut teh place for a very long time, easily around 8 to 10 years. We used to eat here almost every Sunday, and it was always packed and full of energy. Their bak kut teh was one of the best, and the fish was consistently amazing. I have so many good memories here, and I still remember seeing the lady boss working tirelessly. After all these years, we were surprised and touched to see her still working in the kitchen. We decided to return after a long time because we really missed the food. However, it was quite disappointing to see how much things had changed. Of course, people and recipes evolve, but unfortunately the change was not for the better. The bak kut teh no longer had that strong punch, it was not served hot, and the meat was very tough. We shared our feedback with the staff but did not receive any response. On a positive note, the black trotter was good, the intestines were alright, and the fish was still tasty, although the bottom part was tough, possibly due to overcooking. Overall, we understand that running an F&B business is not easy, but it may be worth reviewing the food quality again as the experience was quite disappointing compared to the past. We genuinely hope to come back in the future to enjoy better food and service. Thank you for all the years of hard work and memories.
View on GoogleIt’s our first time to dine in here. Our morning choice is Bak Kut Teh, steamed fish, veggies and side dishes. Good service. We had nice chat with the owner and the staff there.
View on GoogleCame a few times. Really like the bak kut teh as the soup is really boiled to the flavours and u can really taste the tea, bak kut and garlic taste in the soup unlike other shops where pepper and herbal covers the tea taste. Its called 肉骨茶 for a reason. It is not overpowering yet just nice for my palette! Tried the steam fish too, its really fresh! And braised intestines and pig trotters were very 入味. The atmosphere is very hot and old school as well. That makes the food taste even better than having it in an air conditioned restaurant. Service was slow.. it wasnt full house but we had to ask for 3 times for our soup to be refilled. But that doesnt affect my liking for the food. I will definitely be there again!
View on GooglePassed by this ba ku teh shop and saw many tow Kay patrons having their BKT fix; hence decided to give this establishment a try. Ordered the 1 portion bkt soup and pig trotters. The meat was tender almost fall of the bone type. The soup was quite similar to the Teochew style, clear and peppery not over powering type. Very clean on the palates and will try their whole fish next as I saw many tables had ordered this dish
